George leads us over to some stumps surrounding a stone and charcoal fire. He hands us plates and gestures for us to sit.

"Alright men, we have two new members of our compound. I expect that we are respectful to Dream and Sapnap." Wilbur announces. Sapnap and I smile at the five men littered around the fire.

"So," Sapnap begins. I mentally prepare myself for the blunt shit that will escape his lips. "Why do you all have British accents?"

The teens burst out with laughter. "Because we're fuckin' British obviously!" Tommy, blurts. George chokes on a bean and smacks Tommy. Wilbur cackles and roughs up his hair.

"Yes, like he said, we moved from England to the states shortly before the outbreak started." Sapnap and I nod along in understanding.

"Are you both from Florida or did you just end up here?" Tubbo asks.

"Florida born and raised, and he's from Texas." I introduce.

"Moved in with Dre before shit hit the fan and we've been together since." Sapnap finishes. They nod in understanding.

"So the kids are your brothers, Wilbur?" I make conversation. Wilbur grins.

"Yeah. Something like that." The two youngest members of the group are sat between Phil and Wilbur, eating their beans and rice staring at us.

"Why'd you shoot the bugger coming toward Tubbo." The blonde, Tommy, questions.

"Look kid; I don't care if I know the person or not, if I hate them or they're my best friend. I'm not letting no one die on my watch. Too many of us have been lost." I say, shoving another spoonfull of the meal into my mouth.

"I guess that's true. Thanks." He says sheepishly, turning his head back to his food.

"George says we sleeping in separate tents to avoid conspiracy. Who am I bunking with?" I ask.

"You're an alpha, no? You definitely will be sleeping in my tent then, so I can keep an eye on you." Wilbur says. "And what are you, Sapnap?"

"Alpha." Wilbur nods.

"And you're comfortable with him sleeping in your tent, Phil?" Wilbur inquires. Phil nods, not caring.

"Alright it's settled then." Wilbur places his meal to the side and strides over to our stumps, and he holds out a hand. "Welcome to our group." We both shake his hand, the alpha grip strong.

"Glad to be here. Thank you for welcoming us." Sapnap says and I nod along.

"Has it always been just the two of you?" George asks.

"Yeah pretty much. We hung out with one group for a week before we caught a bad vibe, another about a day before we found out they were cannibals. It's been rough making allies nowadays." I say, running a hand through my hair.

"Cannibals?!" The teens screech in unision before having their feet stepped on by the adult on their sides.

"Bloody hell that hurt Phil fuck off-" "Damn-it Wilbur my foot!"

"It's getting dark! You know better than to raise your voices like that." Phil scolds.

"Especially today, there's a break in the fence somewhere, that's the only explanation for the undead to of been inside the compound." Wilbur finishes.

"Or the damn things learned how to climb. Man, wouldn't that suck?" Sapnap jokes and I sigh.

"Not funny. That's almost as bad as joking around about them being able to run." George shudders.

"Come on guys you're gonna freak us all out." I say. "Anyway, thank you to who ever made dinner. A good meal is not something we've had in ages."

"No problem. We've got a heavily stocked pantry, and a few crops we have set up." Phil says.

"Do you all have any chores that we should do?" Sapnap asks. "Like dishes?"

"Nope. Let me guide you to your tents for tonight." Wilbur says leading us towards buildings where a few decently sized tents are perched. "Over there in that building is the bathroom, food pantry and medicinal pantry."

"You're kidding! A real toilet?" Sap says, almost as excited as he was to hear about the bath.

"Not the best like you'd see when the world was normal, but its definitely better than a port-a-potty or taking a dump in a bush. Only draw back is we have to dump it manually so it doesn't overflow." Wilbur explains.

"Right, Dream, this is my tent and your tent for the time being, and Sapnap, Phil's tent is this one." He says stopping in front of two tents. "We will be taking turns keeping watch tonight, to make sure the fence breach doesn't cause a hoard." We nod.

"Thank you again for having us. We will pull our weight and help out whenever we can." I say, and Sapnap nods. I unzip the tent and step inside. Its pretty roomy. You could fit the whole group in here if you had to, not comfortably though.

"Let me go fetch two sleeping bags for you." Wilbur says, heading over to the cabin.

"This place is so nice. I can't believe how lucky we are." Sap says.

"These guys are funny too. I think we'll get along well." I say.

Wilbur comes back with two rolled up bundles of the sleeping bags and tosses them to us. "You can set up and everyone will be heading to bed soon."

The sky continues to darken and I turn on my flashlight that i have attached to my utility belt. I roll out the sleeping bag in the empty space of the tent and pat it down.
A head pokes into my tent and I turn to see Sapnap. We exchange goodnights and the rest of the group arrives to sleep.
I fall asleep feeling fully safe and content for the first time in a long while.
