Yawn.
"Oh, thanks." Jana receives a mug of hot black coffee from her work partner while fighting to keep her eyes open. "Have I told you you're a great friend?"
Max sits down on the chair beside her with his own mug. "I vaguely remember hearing something akin to that from you this morning. Remind me again?"
"You're a great friend. And you're annoying"
"I've been called worse."
Jana rolls her eyes and gets back to focus on the two screens in front of her. As annoying as he is, Max is a great friend and colleague. He's a good producer and the only other non-Korean in the company, somehow that's always a bit comforting for her. It's nice to have an ally in the "still not being able to fully grasp all aspects of the language" boat - not from a lack of effort. She's actually quite proud of how quickly she's able to learn Korean. Max, on the other hand, is a tiny bit slow. Or maybe it's because he spends more time enjoying Seoul night life instead of being cooped up at home, studying. He's also a very charming guy, that became one of the factors that makes him indispensable in all of his social excursions. And what keeps his agenda filled up with parties. And casual dates. Jana sometimes wishes she could have just a quarter of that flair from him. But I guess having a social butterfly as your good friend is fun too. She makes a mental note to accept her role as the sidekick. Who is she kidding.
"So what are you gonna do?" Max breaks her wandering mind. She turns to him, confused.
"Huh? For this section? Not sure yet... I kinda like the leitmotif I built for the main theme, so maybe I'll sprinkle some elements of that somewhere on this boss battle score as well. Just gonna make it darker, sort of like the evil-sounding version of it. Whatcha think?"
"That's...not what I was asking... But that's actually a good direction. Maybe throw in something that has quite a dissonant feel here and there to give it even more of, umm...an uncomfortable undertone?"
"Ah!" Jana quickly opens up another window of instrument plug-ins and starts scrolling down. "This would probably work... So, what were you asking again? Sorry."
Max shifted his focus from Jana's screen to look at her. "Oh, right. The creep. The one at the park? What are you gonna do about him?"
"Or her. You never know these days." Jana threw him a glance. "I don't know, Dude. Like, what do I do? I don't know who that was, and he..." Jana stops when Max throws her a smirk. "...or her, didn't actually do anything, per se."
"That was freakin' creepy, though. Maybe just don't go there so late at night on your own. At least for a while. You know what they say, criminals tend to come back to their crime scenes."
"That tells me just how many true crime docus you've been watching lately." Jana rolls her eyes again and sips her coffee. Then, she suddenly lets out a little laugh.
"Is it funny to you that I watch true crime docus?"
"No, no..." Jana smiles. "If the whole situation wasn't so creepy, that move was really something...uh...what's a good word for it...?"
"Stalky? YOU's Joe Goldberg-y?"
Jana suddenly has an amused look in her eyes. "...Original."
Max stares at her in disbelief. "Ma'am, you are a problem."
