We had shortly arrived at Saint Bartholomew's hospital and walked into the morgue and by shortly I actually mean fifteen minutes later which only consisted of complete silence which in the end just bored me even more. How long does he expect me to keep this up for? I am certainly going to be doing a lot of talking with him once I get back to him.
Then he called, he called my phone number. He hardly ever does that especially if I'm in the middle of a job.
I looked up from my phone and at both John and Sherlock "it's important, I'll meet you two in there soon," I started heading to the exit, "I won't be too long!" I shouted as I walked down the hallway, my back to them as I placed the phone next to my ear after pressing answer.
"So how is my favourite field worker doing?" The voice asked with that same Dublin, Irish accent as me, and he emphasised on the word 'favourite'.
I stood outside of the hospital and looked around me, still keeping my phone close to my ear "I don't see why you are asking me, you should already know by now, you always do" I replied after making sure no one was listening to me.
I heard him chuckle on the other side of the phone. "Oh Emilia, you never seem to amaze me" he paused and I could now hear the faint sound of people talking in the background shortly followed by him shouting at them to shut up. "Anyway I hope you haven't gotten yourself distracted little one, remember your job and don't forget I'll be watching you" he said, his voice now serious unlike earlier when he was....Happy. Just hearing his voice sends shivers down my spine. I hanged up and headed back inside and to morgue.
I walked into the room to see Sherlock hovering over a blonde girl's dead body, looking over her with this..Magnifying glass. John was stood up straight next to him and then there was this girl opposite of Sherlock whom I did not recognise, her dark brown hair was up in a ponytail and her matching brown eyes flickered from the body-who I assume was Claire Fillest Bennett- and to me.
"How glad of you to finally join us again" Sherlock muttered under his breath, clearly either agitated or just concentrating more on the body.
John looked away from the body and at me and I looked back at him as I walked up to the body. "I'll be having my file back now Sherlock" I said, holding my hand out for him to hand over the case file of Claire as I looked down at him. He picked up the file and placed it in my hand and I put it back in my shoulder strap bag.
"Excuse me but who are you?"the girl with the brown hair asked, obviously aiming the question at me and I turned my attention to her and quickly looked her up and down and then looked back at her, making eye contact.
I placed my hands on the edge of the table "the name is Emilia Jane Croí" I replied looking back to the Claire's dead body "I'm...An acquaintance of Sherlock and John and you are?" I asked her as I looked at Claire's body to see if there was anything new that wasn't there before.
"Molly Hooper, I'm a friend well I think I am anyway..." Her voice slowly drifted off as she replied to my question.
Friend? Sherlock has friends? I mean he doesn't seem the one to gain friends with that..Machine type personality of his well maybe he just thinks he doesn't have friends or that he doesn't want any.
"Emilia, am I correct to say that you told us that she had no wounds?" Sherlock asked me, now looking at her neck. I went still and realised what he had noticed and walked over to where he was standing.
"That was what I said. I assume that you've found something then?" I asked him, looking over at the neck myself.
"Yes I have," he moved away from the neck now standing up straight, "there's a puncture wound in the side or her neck which means she could of been injected with a needle to be killed but there would of been signs of struggle but there isn't any so that must mean it was from a long distance so the only thing that could hit her veins from a distance with a puncture wound that size would be a-"
"Dart" we both said in unison. I couldn't help but smirk slightly and looked at Sherlock, now standing up straight myself
He looked at Molly "I'll be needing a syringe full of her blood, I'll meet you in the lab" Sherlock said as he walked out of the room like he already knew she would do it for him and I followed closely behind him as John hesitated at first but quickly snapped out of confusion and went after us.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was now night time already and here I am sitting on a stool in a lab, doing nothing as Sherlock was comparing poisons to the blood in Claire's body and so far we haven't got anything still. Sherlock was sat next to me and John well he was getting us a cup of tea but he wasn't happy about having to get two cups of tea for us, probably because he was supposed to be heading to a date.
I looked at John as he walked through the door and I could feel a slight smile creep along my face. He walked over to us and handed us our cups of tea well he gave me mine but placed Sherlock's next to him since Sherlock was looking into the microscope still. I thanked John quietly and took a sip of the cup of tea that had just been given to me.
"Shouldn't you be going to a date John?" I asked looking up at him to see his expression change to surprised and then confused
"Yes I am but h...How did you know that?"John asked me as I looked away from him and to Sherlock instead to see how he was doing but I was still facing him.
"You've dressed up in nice clothes, your phone has vibrated more than once and you were slightly agitated when I asked you to get us a cup of tea so overall you have somewhere to be and your late and if you don't go now she will think you stood her up which I think you don't want her to think oh and if you really like her then don't tell her you were here with Sherlock and another girl, tell her that you were looking for your phone and keys that's why you didn't answer her calls or texts" I replied, helping him slightly "and don't worry I'll keep an eye on Sherlock for you so just go, he'll be fine" I quickly added before he could open his mouth to say something and watched him slightly as he walked over to the door. I think he said thank you but I couldn't really hear him since I was zoning out slightly from thinking about the case.
"Arsenic!" Sherlock exclaimed loudly, making me jump out of my stool slightly from his sudden outburst once John had left the building. I looked at Sherlock with a slight confused expression on my face as he stood up "The dart had been covered in Arsenic, the police never would of suspected her to of been poisoned since the Arsenic had made her complexion pale so it wouldn't of been visible of any poisons in her body," he smiled, "whoever killed her is a genius! But not smart enough to out smart me, we'll need to see whoever purchased some Arsenic in the past week and find out who was in the house at the time of her death, no doubt there would be CCTV footage outside of the house so we'll need to look at that once we find out who had bought some Arsenic in the country within the past week" Sherlock explained as he grabbed his coat putting it on swiftly as he headed to the door and looked around like he only had just noticed that John wasn't here "where's John?" He asked now looking at me for what seemed like the first time tonight.
"He went out, he had a date that he was late for and I told him to go so don't worry he is in no danger I assure you" I replied as I stood up, quickly finishing my cup of tea and looked at the cup of tea that Sherlock hasn't even touched.
"I'm not worried about him I just prefer his company when I'm working" he said almost immediately after I answered his question. I walked up to him, heading to the door
"You'll get used to my company soon, trust me now since it's late why don't we go back to Baker Street? And before you ask why I'm going with you well that's because I'm actually thinking about moving into the room downstairs since I've just been kicked out of my house for not paying my rent in the past four months" I explained as I walked past him and heading to leave the building, knowing he would follow me even if he wants to disagree with me moving in downstairs but he knows arguing won't work with me and either way he'll run into me soon whether he likes it or not since he'll have to wait for John there that is if he does want to wait for him.
I stood on the empty pavement and held my hand out in the air on the road signalling for a cab as Sherlock caught up to me, I watched as the cab drove up to us and I opened the door to the back once it stopped and got into the cab, leaving the door open for Sherlock to get in and I looked at the cab driver as Sherlock shut the door "221b baker street please" I said to the driver and I laid back into the seat as the cab started to move and I looked out the window next to me.
