"Bye!" Zain calls into the kitchen. "I'll be back before dinner!"

"Are you leaving?" Harry asks, looking up from his homework. "Where are you going? Did mum say you could?"

"Yea," Zain says with a shrug, continuing to walk towards the door.

Harry gets up to follow him, frowning. "But why? Where are you going?"

"Just. The high street," Zain shrugs. "Stuff."

"Why? With who? Are you going with Liam? It's dark already and raining, Zain," he says, watching Zain pull on his trainers like he doesn't care. "We can go together tomorrow."

"Harry," Zain says. "I can't go with you."

"Why?" Harry asks, handing Zain his scarf. "We'll have so much fun, we can look at the video games, maybe we'll get a PlayStation for Christmas finally."

"You think?" Zain says, looking sceptical. "I don't think so, we'll never get a PlayStation."

"I hope so, Mum's been secretive with yours."

"They're always secretive about something. Or just cooing at Safaa," Zain shrugs.

"Safaa is cute," Harry sighs, turning towards the living room where Safaa was sleeping. "So cute." He'll go cuddle her in a moment.

"Yea," Zain says. "I'll see you later, Harry. Good luck with homework."

"You're really going? Why?" Harry asks, following Zain towards the door.

Zain doesn't let himself be deterred, just pulls on his jacket and opens the door. "You can't come with, Harry."

"Why?" Harry asks, following him to the door. He pouts at Zain, which always helps.

"Because I'm buying your Christmas present, dummy," Zain sighs. "Can I go now?"

"Oh," Harry says, jumping on the spot slightly. "I, okay," he grins, hugging himself in excitement. He loves presents and Zain always got him the best presents. "Have fun."

Zain grins at him. "I will. See you for dinner."

"Okay," Harry nods, waving after Zain until he is out the gate and then closing the door.

Mum looks up when he rushes into the living room, still grinning.

"What are you smiling about, hm?"

"Zain's getting me a present," Harry tells her, feeling all happy and warm inside.

"Yea?" Mum asks, rocking Safaa slightly on her knees. "So you let him go by himself?"

"Of course," Harry says, frowning at her. He doesn't know what she means, he doesn't have a problem with Zain going somewhere without him. It was just nicer together. "I have to get him a present as well, Mum."

"I'm sure you'll figure it out," Mum says, setting Safaa down to let her crawl towards him.
