"Quick! This way." Bucky shouted, he drug Steve by his arm running from some no-good fools in an alley. Steve once more, bit off more than he could chew. He's been alone since his parents died for the good of the war, his Father taken by mustard gas, and his Mother in a TB ward she got hit and couldn't shake it. Some smaller shrimp was walking slow looking for decent scrap to get just a few coins, they didn't know the two jokesters running their way. It wasn't until Bucky crashed into them full force and tripped down on the pavement with Steve the three met. "Hey! Watch it! What are you doing blocking the street you--Holy smokes." Bucky began to nag and belittle the guy until he noticed that the shrimp was no guy at all but a dame disguised as a boy. Steve sat up hearing the thundering footsteps get closer, he was about to tap Bucky and make a run for it until he also saw the girl. Beth grabbed her hat and rolled over winceing she felt sore from the two teens crashing into her. "Shit--" She muttered seeing the two finally, placing her finger up she made a shushing motion as if begging them to keep her secret.

Twisting her hair back she put her cap back on then rushed to her feet, she turned her chin looking at two of the locally known bullies in their town, they made a stop watching their targets get up and stand behind the shrimpy boy, at least they thought Beth was a boy. "Move it pipsqueak. I'll do you some damage if you don't scram." The bully to the left stated. "Thomas--we both know you're all bark no bite." She returned back just as quickly. "Listen here and listen good I will roughen you up if you don't mind your manners and beat it." The second threatened. "Kyle just because he's your little chicken shit brother doesn't mean you gotta defend him every chance. Lemme guess--yet again you have to clean his mess with these two punks. Am I right? Your brother talks alotta shit it's no wonder you gotta puff out your chest and get handsy with a couple of guys." Beth crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes, she clenched her jaw waiting for a move these guys had no brains and very little communication skills. "Why you!" Kyle stepped forward to try and put his hands on her, once he reached out she pulled a switchblade out from her pocket and stuck the tip to his neck.

"I'd think long and hard if I were you, is this really worth the hassle? I will cut you open like a fish." She made her own threat. "Fuck him up! Whatcha waiting for?" Thomas shouted. "Forget it! Let's go home." Kyle said knowing he really didn't want to clean this mess up, whoever this shrimp was meant what he said. "What? But they--"No, We're leaving the freaks. Bail." Thomas began but Kyle interjected fed up already he'd just take his anger out on his kid brother. Backing off the two left, Beth closed her knife and turned around looking at the two punks she just helped. "Nothing in this world is free, pay up." She said. Bucky had a very wide grin on his face as Steve waited and watched in silence. "Oh no, see payment is us keeping our yaps shut about you toots. Or should we tell everyone you're a she and not a he?" Bucky offered blackmail. "To hell with you, I got more important things to deal with anyhow." She lowered her tone, Beth frowned and began searching for more scrap as she did before. "Thank you." Steve quipped, this caused Beth to look his way and offer a smile. "Don't mention it." She responded.

"What are you doing alone? Dames like you shouldn't be out without a man around." Bucky as a teen didn't really watch his mouth, he was the type to talk first without thinking. Steve on the other hand always thought before speaking he cared about how his words may make someone feel, Buck was a good example of that given they spend their time together constantly. "Ugh--Nonya." Beth gave an obvious groan of disgust followed by a sarcastic remark. "Looks to me like you're searching for scrap to sell, need help?" Steve offered. Bucky quickly turned and gave him a side-eye to make it obvious they didn't have time even though they did. "I am but no thanks, I don't feel like sharing my earnings with trouble-making punks." Beth offered another smile obviously joking by calling them punks. "Well it was nice meeting you but we should--"I wouldn't want your earnings, there's gotta be a good enough reason you're searching. Plus we can be greater in numbers if they come back. I know Thomas would bring back a knife and the idea of leaving you alone with him unsettles me." Steve quickly shut Bucky up by giving a more logical response. He wanted to make it obvious to Bucky leaving a lady alone after she pulled a knife on someone would only bring trouble her way.
