“Damn you!” I spat onto Hayden’s face once we were clear from prying eyes.
We took a turn into an alley between two scruffy buildings. This whole town was scruffy. There are rats running along through the garbage scattered across the damp brick floor. The smell burns the insides of my nostrils, although this little alley has been our pre-meeting point for the last year, I don't think I'll ever get used to the smell. Gross.
“I thought you loved me, like a second ago, isn’t that right, cousin?” He smirked at me, “did I show up at the wrong time? After all, you were the one who said we needed to meet up.” He said, leaning against the wall in the alley.
“Wipe that stupid smirk off your face. And, yeah, I did call for a meet up." I rolled my eyes at him, "What I didn’t sign up for was bumping into Elyse, and rolling on the grass in the park, and laughing at the clouds with my mentally ill cousin that. Doesn’t. Actually. Exist. But I got it anyway.”
I stepped closer towards him, “Hip,” even closer, “hip,” we were inches away, his breath fanning my cheeks, “hooray.” I said at the same time he brought his hands to my waist and squeezed.
I jumped back, slapping his hands away from me. My converse soak in the water of a puddle behind me. I slapped his shoulder, again.
“What? You were the one saying 'hip, hip'… thought I might just do the pleasure already…” He looked at me with laughter brimming in his green eyes. He was in a playful mood and I certainly knew I wasn't.
“Hip hip as in ‘hip hip hooray’ not hip hip touch my hips, you idiot.” I huff dramatically and lean next to him against the wall.
Our shoulders brushing, both of our leather jackets squeak against each other.
“Who is this ‘Elyse’, anyways?” Hayden asked, turning to face me. His eyebrows furrowed and a cute line appears, he gets that when he’s curious.
I shrug, “Nobody." I end the discussion there, "You know what? On second thought, Elyse is someone I wish I never met." I stated, a sudden rage ignited within me.
Shuddering I try to calm myself, remembering how close I got to ripping her head off that pretty neck of hers.
“Oh Rosa has a girlfriend problem!!!” Hayden swoons, laughing at his not funny joke.
“Shut up. Riley and her are besties, pester him about it. Where’s he anyway? We have to get going.” I change the subject swiftly with our situation at hand.
Hayden just shrugged but quickly pushed off the wall and pulled out his phone when I gave him a look. They know not to mess with me, especially because I’m at the top of this operation. Riley and Hayden have been in the company ever since it was founded; same goes for me, of course.
“He’s running late. He said his tires 'melted'…?” He held his hand up before I could question him, “Don’t ask, I don’t even know. He’ll meet us at The Loop in 15.” Hayden briefed me quickly, his brown hair swept to the side.
“Alright, get the jeep. We’ll meet him there.” I commanded, pulling out my own phone and shooting the Boss a text that we’re running late due to Rileys’ tires breaking down. I definitely didn’t want any part of the blame for being late. No way. Not again.

“What in the world took you so long?” Fumed the Boss, sitting in his oversized king chair, “I waited here so long, my leg hairs can be braided!” He said pounding his fists on the long wooden desk, demanding for us to take our usual seats - Me on the other end of the long desk, Riley to my left and Hayden opposite.
