-,' bitter attitude.
playing games at night was always exciting to kai, the atmoshpere was more lively as she said. united's game against villarreal was tonight and kai couldn't keep in her excitement as she stood next to bruno on the field.
with the blue kit on her body, her eyes roamed the stands as the fans was up and clapping for the players who made their way onto the grass. breathing out, she rolled up her shorts a bit and adjusted the black gloves on her fingers.
even with the cold weather, she still wore the shorts she was required to wear, but hey; as least she looked good.
"look at you, captain and all that," she smiled at the portuguese man, who wore the colourful armband on his hand.
bruno chuckled, "look's good init?"
she nodded, a huge grin on her frosted lips. "yeah, of course," she leaned over his shoulder and whispered, "i'll let you score if you give me the armband," kai proposed, wanting to be captain for the game but knew she wouldn't either way.
he scoffed, "no way, i worked too hard for this." the italian rolled her eyes playfully at him and once more, she looked around.
slight rain, vibrant grass, excited fans and even eager players. kai didn't know this but she was lucky to be playing most of united's matches, starting as well because she was the better female forward.
she slowly distanced herself from the rest, kai started moving to her place when a ball chucked very close to her head, missing it by inches. her eyes widened at the woosh sound it made close to her left ear and as soon as she got the nike football in her hands, she turned around to see marcus smiling, brightly.
"was your intentions to hit me or to get my attention?" she rested a hand on her hip and didn't want to get closer but she was then informed that one of the officials had something wrong with their device so they stopped the orignal starting time.
"both to be honest," he joked and cleared his throat when he saw her harsh glare. "i was just thinking, did you have a specific date to get back with jadon? i mean he doesn—"
"no." she cut him off, narrowing her brown eyes.
"dunno if this is overstepping or not but what did you tell him? he's been pacing back and fourth in the locker rooms just now and he was mumbling to himself," he announced.
kai didn't glance at him for the day, so she didn't take note of it. she also didn't want him stressing, that's why she suggested the break but apparently he was stressing more now.
she stratched behind her ear, "where is he now?"
marcus pointed to where jadon stood watching the grass below his feet, his hands wiping his face. starting to walk away from the older man, he whispered so only she could hear.
"i expect you guys to be together when you get back,"
"no, marcus. no."
nevertheless, she walked over to him with confidence in her steps and when he heard her footsteps on the grass, he looked up and made eye contact with her.
fog left her mouth as she spoke. "you alright?"
nodding firmly and giving her a thumbs-up, "yeah." kai frowned, seeing right past his words. she was further interuppted when she saw the reffree walking onto the field for the match to commence.
as she walked to her space, she looked at him and he looked at her too, feeling her eyes on him. kai sent him a ressuring smile, nodding her head slightly.
