Some filler because I have writer's block on the main story.

The cloaked creature stands silently over the infant’s soul. It had just died in its mother’s arms. Taken by a cruel illness. The mother fought hard and won, but it took its revenge out on the child.

Its skeletal hand reaches out to grasp the being, to its surprise, the soul grips its bony finger. The tiny boy’s soul giggles. The creature tilts its head and lifts it gently.

“Hello small child, would you release my hand?” It asks calmly.

“He doesn’t understand you yet, brother, he is still too small to know anything.” His sister smiles and approaches.

“Why not? It is a mortal. They communicate just fine, well to their ‘friends’ at least.” It stares at the boy, who is now sucking on the creature’s finger, “I believe it is hungry.”

She giggles at her brother, the great destroyer, holding his child in pure confusion. It’s certainly interesting.

“While you are somewhat correct, this is a baby. They need care and love to grow and learn.” She gently tickles the small creature, “It needs someone to love it.”

She gently nudges him to get her point across.

“Love?” It lightly rocks the child as he gums at its bone marrow, “I can’t… what if I hurt him? Why can’t you?”

His sister hugs him from the side and looks at the baby boy.

“I made him. I have a good feeling you will be better for him than I. He deserves a home and someone to care for him, and I’ve seen you with souls, you need someone to care for.”

“What does that mean?”

She smiles as the ground begins to take back it’s queen.

“You’ll find out, I know you’ll do well.”

With that, Destruction is left alone, holding the infant closely. A murmur utters from under his cloak.

“What’s the worst that could happen..?”
