"Tears come from heart, not from the brain. That's why I always keep my heart locked"

The horizon hasn't released its hold on the sun. Brave stars peeped out in the colorful dancing of sunrays. The sky was a canvas painted in red, orange, pink, purple and blue - by the most skillful artist, the nature.

The cold morning air bit into her skin, as she dashed through the streets. Her short locks flew in the wind as she hummed along with the rhythm blasting in her ears. A dog - German Shepherd - was hot on her trail. She jogged on, completely oblivious. Not after a few seconds, he had caught up with her. He kept up the pace, as silent as possible, like a predator. Soon, he pounced on her, just to miss in a speck of dust. She had moved aside and he skidded to a stop. A low growl rumbled from his chest as his razor sharp canines were displayed. Her eyes seemed to widen a bit, before her lips curled into a challenging smirk. They both stood glaring at each other, slightly crouched. Airy growls erupted from the canine with each breath, threateningly. But she wasn't fazed the tiniest bit. Then they took off as they cut through the waves of crisp air, dashing madly through the hardly populated street.

She increased her speed as the adrenaline boosted through her veins when she neared a building. It had two floors and three rooms in each. It was so old and dusty that anyone'd think it was abandoned. An old lady stood, watering her plants.

'Her white puffy hair would make her look kind, if not for that permanent scowl and the irritating knock in the early mornings of the new month' she thought before jumping up the stairs to the second floor.

"Girl! See where you are going!" came a shout from the said woman.

Ignoring it, she slid to take an abrupt turn into the door, which probably is made of the cheapest wood. She slowed down as the mattress stood blocking her way. But before she could think of another escape, something collided with her back, making her fall on the mattress. The smell of old, faded sheets entered her nose. She felt clawed paws on her shoulders with a growl of victory. She turned around to face her captor. The clawed paws and bared canines would've made others shiver.

"Fine. Fine. You won." even though her tone was dull, his ears perked up at his victory. With a final nudge to her face, he moved down to the rug. He kept his head on his paws and closed his eyes, as if nothing happened.

She got up and walked to the nearby room. Only the sound of water rushing could be heard. After sometime, she walked out of the room, wearing a black hoodie with black jean.

Her hand, which was drying her dark hair carelessly, froze when she sensed something out of place. Her head shot up in alert, making her wet locks bounce softly. The place looked darker than it would always be and was eerily quiet. She felt as if someone was watching her each and every move. She turned her gaze towards the window in the faraway corner, as a cool breeze swept across her face. It was wide open.

"I'm certain I closed it. Did you see anyone enter Ritz?" she queried him, as she stalked towards the window and peeped out to find no one. He gave her a 'are-you-out-of-your-mind?' look, making her sigh. Shrugging her backpack on, she picked up a bread for herself and Ritz.

"Catch" The bread was in his mouth even before it went halfway to its destiny.

"Bye Ritz" She walked out of the room, chewing her bread. She was racing the clock, because she had writings yet to complete as soon as she reaches the school. Even though she tried, she couldn't just shake off the feeling of being watched.

'I think I'm just being paranoid' she tried to convince herself as she made her way to the school. But it did nothing to calm her nerves.
