It was a mind game. A cruel manipulation of jealousy and pride and corrupted things that people liked to call love.

His parents divorced when he was little. He moved away to Korea with his mother, and every relationship she had after that was nothing short of tear-filled nights and tiresome days, until she decided to marry again. It was idle while it lasted. Now, after an evening of swear words, he and his mom were being kicked out of again. Another divorce. Another chance to start over.

Maybe that was why he braved the stairs to the rooftop of his apartment building that midnight. He didn't want to jump. He just wanted the thrill of being above everyone and everything for a while. He just wanted to feel something.

The moment he saw someone already there, he turned around to leave.

"Leaving just like that, stranger?"
