The young man speaking to Bukayo and a very anxious Afya quickly brought his phone out. "Come on bro, you remember her. You were like, staring at her the entire time she was on screen."
Bukayo coughed. "Sorry, what now?"
Afya looked down, but smiled to herself. So he may remember me.
It appeared the gentleman had loaded up YouTube, and was now showing Bukayo a music video. And based on what Afya could hear coming out of the phone, it was none other than one of her most successful singles, Bloody Samaritan.
She cringed slightly as she heard herself sing, but watched Bukayo's reaction. He was almost transfixed by the sight of her moving her hips and vibing with the crowd of people."Wow," he breathed, once the video had ended. "That was amazing. I-"
"Alright, we get it," laughed the other young guy. "I'm Jude by the way," he introduced, taking out a hand to shake. "Jude Bellingham."
"Well, nice to meet you Jude. I'm Afya," the girl replied, smiling. She shook his hand gracefully. "Afya Akintola."
Bukayo's head snatched up so fast. He only knew one girl with a Ghanaian name and a Nigerian last name like hers. And it sounded oddly familiar...
"Well, it's been nice meeting you two," Afya reassured them. "But I really have to leave now. Maybe I'll see you around?"
"Er, yeah. Yeah, maybe we will," replied Bukayo. "See you around."
Afya carried her plate and smiled at Jude before quickly walking to the other side of the buffet and getting more food.
Jude turned to his friend with a smile. "She was well fit, weren't she?" he giggled. "You seem to have noticed that."
Bukayo raised an eyebrow. "As if."
Jude patted his friend's back. "If you say so!" he sang, beginning to walk back. "Don't come to me saying you want to ask her out in the future, cause I'll tell you that I told you so."
"What do you know about that? You were literally in school not that long ago. This guy, man."
Bukayo rolled his eyes and got himself some food.
Meanwhile, Afya had finally gotten hers and had decided to phone Wendy now that she had landed in the UK.
"Hello?"
"Mmm, so it's now that you want to phone me abi?" Wendy joked.
Afya rolled her eyes. "Hey, guess which kind food I dey chop right now."
There was silence on the line before Wendy spoke. "Banku and okro stew?"
"Nope."
"Pounded yam?"
"Mm-mm."
"Fufu and palm nut soup? Yams and garden egg stew? Banku and tilapia?"
"In a London restaurant?"
"It's possible. What is it then?"
"Herrh! Saa(really)?"
Afya fed herself some more rice and fully swallowed before responding. "Yeah. Too bad you're not here."
"Whatever, you've made me hungry. There's no way I'm getting up now. Anyway, how's London?"
"Eh, it's alright," the girl replied. "We're at the hotel right now and we're gonna start preparing to head back up soon."
