----Chapter 4---- (Saturday morning. 9am)
The sound of my phone buzzing woke me, I jumped up realising I fell asleep on my windowsill.
"fuck what time is it" I whispered to myself. I quietly shut the window. clambered off the windowsill and checked the time.
"Oh, not too late" I climb into bed under the covers and open up the text message I received on my phone not too long ago.
'Meet me at the park fountain in town at 12. Liam'
'See you there. Mae' I quickly shot back my reply
It wouldn't take me three hours to get ready, so I drifted off back to sleep.
-----------------------------------------
"MAE, YA LAZY SOD"
I suddenly sad up, oh god. I swung my legs off the bed, ran to the door and opened it.
"YES DAD?" I shouted down the stairs
"CAN YOU COME MAKE ME MY BREAKFAS' NOW"
"YES DAD" I repeated my earlier words, I ran back to my room and grabbed my phone then back onto the landing and down the stairs into the kitchen.
I found him sitting at the kitchen table, he looked ruff. He had a week old stubble, his hair was ruffled around, still in his boxers and he reeked of beer.
"what do you want?" I coughed and walked over to the oven not wanting to draw attention to myself looking at the timer.
11:30am
Shit shit shit shit shit I'M LATE
"Jus' want butter on toast, and a coffee"
"Ok" I pulled the last bread out of the packet and put it in the toaster, and pushed down the leaver. I bent down to the fridge door and pulled it open grabbing out the butter, I started getting up---
"I need your help today, people are coming round. Need you to tidy the 'ouse" I dropped the butter in the shock of what he said. I snapped back into realisation and quickly grabbed the butter backup and slid it onto the side. I could feel his stare piercing into the back of my head waiting for me to reply.
"Problem?" He questioned
"No, ok. that's fine" I sighed still standing with my back to him, I started at the cupboard door and waited. The toast popped up and I jumped, I slithered on the butter and dropped it on a plate. I placed it on the table. He picked up and took a bite of the toast, waited, then started chewing it aggressively.
"Jus' going toilet. Get the coffee ready" He pushed back his chair which schreeched across the floor and he stumbled out of the room. I walked to the door and peered round before shutting the kitchen door quietly and pulling my phone out.
'I'm so sorry, I can't come. Somethings come up. Maybe another time? Mae'
He quickly replied back, I opened it up with my trembling hands.
'Too bad. Tell me when you're free, Liam'
I huffed and threw my phone onto the kitchen surface and put a magazine over it, wouldn't want somebody going through it. Not that I had anything bad to hide.
I heard the flushing of the toilet and remembered the coffee. I ran to the kettle and flicked it on dumping the coffee, sugar, milk and spoon into the mug and placing it on the table.
"Kettle's taking a while to boil" I said, trying to act as innocent as I could as he entered the room looking over to see if I had followed his orders. He nodded and plopped back in his seat and carried on eating his toast. The kettle clicked alarming me it had finished boiling.
"So, who's coming over?" I questioned as I poured the water into the mug, put the kettle back and started mixing the coffee.
My Dad huffled. I put my back up against the kitchen counter and looked at him tilting my head to the side wondering what I had said wrong.
"Your Nan"
