Ruth and f/n stand in the hall of the now abandoned ground floor of the apartment complex. F/n had gotten done with searching a good chunk of the rooms and found a considerable amount of supplies. It was not easy though since some undead were either hidden in closets or 'sleeping' during they're first sweep of the rooms. Which resulted in a few pop up scares as a rotting zombie fell out of one of the closed closets when the duo had opened one of them. Where the other would help with dispatching the groaning corpse.

After they finished their second check of the first floor they choose a room to deposit the bodies. The sun had long since went down as they dragged as many of the still corpses into the room as they could. That is when they decided to clean out a room then set up temporary residence. Choosing one of the rooms that was not as stained with blood from the apocalypse as the others. So they laid down some blankets in the bedroom and sat in the hall to have dinner.

Once they were done they stood in the hall to look out into the dark street from the small door window. The horde had not returned but there still were a group of stragglers shambling about. Looking out ruth quickly noticed Y/n wasn't there anymore to Ruth's displeasure, she most likely wondering off in search of another victim to feast on. F/n hoped that it would clear up more considering that there was still a sizable amount of them walking around the entrance. Ruth looked intently amoung the semi empty street for any potential escape routes that they may need later. While at the same time looking for y/n amoung the grey streets and rotting bodies.

When met with nothing but dark shadows of shuffling figures outside she let out a frustrated sigh at the low visability. It was not all bad though she also saw a potential escape out of the only darkness in the form of a silhouette of a alleyway that may lead to another street. Once they finished scouting the street they see some potential stores they can possibly scavenge for food. That is a plus at least, now they stand in the hall discussing what they will do tomorrow. In hushed tones to hopefully not draw anymore undead that may hear.

Ruth: so should we leave in the morning or should we search the rest of the rooms.

F/n: I think we may have enough to last us awhile from what we found so far.

F/n turns they're head toward the doors that lined the hall with a serious expression. Silence settling into the dark gray hall that was now shrouded in pitch black shadow. Say for the twos flashlights that shined onto the concrete floor.

F/n: plus I believe that we over stayed our welcome.

Then they turned toward the entrance giving it the same look as the hall. With sweet beading as they eyed the door intently.

F/n: but we may have to wait for the rest of the zombies to leave before we can leave or we may be torn to bloody chunks

Ruth: hmm

They stand in the darkened hall being illuminated by the glow of both of they're flash lights. As they think of how to proceed. After throwing a few more ideas they decided to get some sleep and come up with somthing tomorrow morning. As they enter the abandoned room they chose to spend the night in, they set down there belongings. Carefully closing the door then locking it so no zombies walk into the small one bedroom apartment.

The apartment barely had anything inside it say for a few posters, refrigerator, white stove, and a tv that lay in the livingroom. From that they got the impression that who once owned the apartment was not able to afford much. Making there way to the bedroom they opened it to see a single queen size mattress lay on the floor. The bed sheets were messy and thrown about the room probably due to the last inhabitants. A small bathroom lay ajar to they're right while a small closet rest to the left of the room. A single window was in the room with its drapes closed so no one could look in on them.

The duo looked over the singler bed, a smile spread across they're face at what they must do. Thoughts of cuddling ruth flashed through f/n's mind as they smiled. Ruth on the other hand frowned at the sight and was tempted to sleep on the floor. At the thought of sharing a bed with f/n as they 'cuddled' made ruth sick. In the end ruth relented and decided against everything else at least she would be warm.

Not like it mattered anyway since she'll still feel cold. Over the days since she lost y/n she had been feeling hollow and devoid of meaning. Barely reacting to much of anything, most times when f/n would suggest to 'cuddling' she would go along, not caring in the slightest. Letting them do what they pleased as long as she could get some sleep and they didn't disturb her she didn't care. Most times she would just lay there as f/n would intertwine their bodies as they lay together.

Laying on the bed ruth took off her boots and jacket revealing a red t-shirt. As she went under the covers f/n followed suit and took off their jacket and boots but making sure they're crowbar was within arms reach. Ruth lay on the mattress looking up at the ceiling as she tried to will herself to sleep. Staring at the patterns she felt movement to her right as f/n wrapped they're arm around her as she closed her eyes. Then drew in a annoyed breathe before releasing it in the form of a annoyed sigh.

........

The suns rays shine through the gaps of the blinds as the two survivers embrace one another. Or at least one them is while the other lay turned away from the other individual as the quietly slept.  They lay still as the sounds of groaning could be heard outside, the shuffling and growling of the undead could be heard outside as the sun rose. Due to this Ruth was pulled out of her slumber and into the waking world. She yawned as she tried to wipe the sleep out of her eyes.

She opened  her eyes to see the face of f/n laying beside her. Wrapping her in a loving embrace as a gesture of love that is shared by couples. Unfortunately for f/n Ruth did not share the same feelings as they did but as much as she hated being with f/n. What other option did she have at this moment in time y/n was infected and currently walking in the horde of undead. And her home that her y/n was burned down a few days ago causing them to have to walk into the city.

The majority of their belongings were lost in the fire including mementos of y/n and her. A saddened expression crossed her features as she looked at f/n. Before wiggling her way out of the embrace and walking to the window. Looking out into the street she saw fewer undead, but it was still a sizable group. So they may need to stay another night before they leave in hope's of finding a safe zone. If there still is one, since the only evidence they had of it was just signs that other survivors have left.

As she was looking out over the shambling bodies somthing caught her eye. She blinked a few times before she looked to where she saw somthing strange. She swore that a few of the undead were bigger. Looking once again she saw a once store clerk now feral beast. She looked undamaged compared to the others that others.

Her orange uniform was in tatters being torn in various points, blood and grime cover it as if it were put through the elements. Her shoes had been worn to shreds due to constant use while holes in her Jean's showed gray skin underneath. On the other hand it's wearer was perfectly fine say for dirt and blood dripping off her form. Her black hair was unkempt and sickly like branches of a withering tree. On first sight you would assume that she was barely infected but her clothes said otherwise.

Squinting Ruth looked at the strange undead as it walked out of her sight. Looking over the crowd she saw more that looked just looked similar to the  one she saw. As she was looking over the bodies that were shambling across the streets.  She caught a glimpse of the undead cashier that she saw earlier  standing in the middle of the road. Facing toward the window that ruth was looking out of.

Staring intently at her as others walked passed it. Not being fazed by the mindless creatures that bumped into it occasionally. It's white orbs fixed on the window staring at the survivor.
