by the river piedra i sat down and wept

by the river piedra i sat down and wept,
spilling every last secret i had kept,
the winter air cooled the tears that made my cheeks wet,
but the only thing i could think of was how his lips felt.

by the river piedra i sat down and wept,
i continued to cry until i had no more tears left,
but i still reminisced the memories i had hoped to forget,
thinking about when i last saw him or when we first met.

by the river piedra i sat down and wept,
i drowned all of my emotions with all the alcohol my hands could get,
and i smoked away all of my frustration with every last cigarette my lips met,
by the river piedra i sat down and wept.
