Today.
Dani sat across the table from Sophie and Micha as they drank coffee and ate breakfast. "Maribel is leaving and I think I want to go with her." Micha dropped the bomb. "Wow."
"That was fast." Sophie said. "I think if she makes you happy and you really want to be with her, that you should go for it." Dani said. "I think it's ridiculous. Have you spoken to Maribel about this?"
"Of course." Micha answered. "Because Texas is totally different from California and it's far from friends." Sophie said. "I'll make new friends."
"You're essentially starting all the way over. Do you really want to do that?" Sophie asked. "Listen, whatever you want to do, I support you." Dani told Micha. "I miss you two together. It's like a visual representation of my brain making a decision."
Dani and Sophie glare at Micha. "You're telling me that if Gigi moved you'd go with her?" Sophie put the conversation back on track. "We're different."
"Because you don't love her?" Sophie asked. It was risk but she needed to know how Dani felt about Gigi. "I love the shit out of Gigi. We're different because she wouldn't ask me to move with her."
"I volunteered." Micha corrected. "I have to go talk to my lawyers. Bye." Dani said leaving. "Why'd you ask that?" Micha asked Sophie. "Why'd you say what you said?" Sophie asked him. Then they drank their coffee quietly.
Dani threw herself into her work to not think about Gigi or anything Sophie and Micha said. As a result, she ignored her phone and missed her date with Gigi. "Fuck." She breathed quietly to herself before rapidly packing up.
Instead of going to Gigi's, Dani went home putting off Gigi's lecture to tomorrow when she'd be in the right head space to discuss.
Gigi met with Nat for lunch. Dani called and Gigi silenced the call and flipped her phone over. "What's that all about?"
"Nothing." Gigi answered. "Don't lie to me." Nat said. "I'm giving her space." Gigi said. "She doesn't seem like she wants space." Nat said noticing Dani's second consecutive phone call. Gigi put her phone in her pocket. "Can we get back on topic?"
"Too bad. I liked Dani." Nat said. "Don't say it like we're over." Gigi said. "You don't take breaks Gigi. It's always all or nothing with you."
"Stop shrinking me." Gigi said. "Okay, fine. Word of advice though, answer your phone."
Later Gigi was sleeping in her bed when a series or knocks on her door woke her up. She looked at the time and sucked her teeth when she noticed it was just past midnight. She threw on a blue robe and slid into her slippers before opening the door.
"Hey." Dani said. Gigi stepped aside and let her inside. "I'm sorry." Dani apologized. "This could've waited until the sun came up." Gigi said. "I know."
"I love you but I don't want to do this anymore." Gigi told Dani. "Do what anymore?"
