Back in the early summers of 2019, it was my sixteenth birthday and I had recently gotten myself a pc by my dad, who I had been living with for a while now. What I didn't expect after that was for me to get a copy of sonic the hedgehog that same day, built for my pc, too. I was super pumped because I've never played a sonic game up until that point, and I wanted to see what all the hype around this little blue hedgehog was really all about. A couple of minutes after I had opened all my presents, I went upstairs and helped my dad set up my pc, my room was larger than anyone else's in the house, so it was pretty easy for us to do. After we got done, I got into my chair and opened up my disc slot, and inserted the copy into my PC. On my home screen, a ring popped up, but it looked very..off. In most sonic game adverts I've seen, the ring was yellow, kinda similar to those coins from Super Mario. The ring on my home screen was grey, and the default name for the game when I booted up my pc wasn't, "sonic" or, "sonic the hedgehog", it simply said, "X", which was a little offputting to me, but I decided I shouldn't really judge a game by its cover, so I decided to boot it up.
