The Sumptus

Chapter 2

After Fay was taken away and Custos left us to "talk" with our new member, Addy suddenly shouted out,"Fay!" with despair and slinked to her knees and started to sob. You see, Fay and Addy were best friends and when you take one away you get the sniveling one that starts to hate the world. They weren't just best friends, they were sisters. Figuratively speaking of course.
"Addy, come on let's go lay down and don't worry Fay will be back." Chet tried to reassure Addy. But the truth is, none of us were sure she would make it. We weren't sure of anything.
"Kat? Can you come here for second?" Mace asked me. I walk over to the corner of the main hall to face the inevitable.
"Kat, we can't tell Cameron anything. You know what happened last time."
I did know and even if he was suspicious, no one deserved what happened to Lili.

[FLASHBACK]
"Kat!Kat" a little blonde girl yelled
"Yeah Lili?" I replied to the newest member.
"Guess what?! I lost a tooth!"
"You did?! That's great!" I said back in happiness. It's not often we get innocent moments in here.
"Do you think the tooth fairy will come here? Will she be too scared of Custos?" Lili said and I noticed her bright blue eyes dim at that last part.
"Oh, really you think a stupid imaginary FAIRY will be scared of me? Wow, I thought you actually liked me Lili. I guess not." an eerie voice replied to Lili's questions from the shadows. Before I could process what was happening, Custos appeared and grabbed Lili and threw her at the cement wall like a rag doll. I ran over to Lili to see her face bloody and her arm at an odd angle from where she landed. I felt the tears build up but kept them at bay. I turned around towards Custos and yelled at him with all the energy I had left in me. He didn't take it well.
[END OF FLASHBACK]

That day was the worst. If I didn't tell her about Custos, she wouldn't have said that, and she wouldn't be dead today. That happened a while ago, but it feels like it happened just a moment ago. The worst part is that Lili was a combination like the rest of us but she got worse treatment even though she was younger than everyone, including Fay. We all regretted that we told her so we vowed to never tell anyone about Custos because they will have to find out for themselves. I feel bad for Cam(that's what I decided we would call him) because he has to suffer through what we had to at first but he looks strong enough that he won't break as easily as the others have.
