Estia's POV~
As we exited the portal I could feel the fear rolling off of the attendants in the room. It was starting to get so overwhelming I almost collapsed. I grabbed onto Percy's shoulder to stabilise myself. He looked at me concerned so I motioned with a small hand gesture over to the gathering of demigods who were haphazardly dressed and looked terrified.
I could tell which demigods had been around for longer than others. Even the famed 7 were in attendance and, despite their lack of 2 members, they looked as confident as ever. I knew better though, they were just as scared as everyone else, none of them had faced Tartarus before except for Annabeth and Percy and, according to what the 7 knew, Percy and Annabeth were MIA.
Zeus cleared his throat to gain everyone's attention. I straightened up and tried my best to block out the emotions I was sensing. I stood proudly next to Percy. I was on his right, Annabeth on his left, Luke beside her and Nico was beside me. We were a team, right?
"I assume you 5 are the Captain and Commander's Chaos' mentioned would be arriving. State your name and rank" Zeus demanded, intitled as always.
Percy took a very deep breath and stepped forward "Sesimos, Captain of this Squad"
We all followed his example one by one.
"Sofos, First in Command"
"Estia, Second in Command"
"Ombra, Third in Command"
Luke hesitated before stating his name and rank "Sotiras, Fourth in Command"
Zeus examined us all before speaking again "Are you all from Earth?"
"That we are. Many of us are from Manhatten, that or we are very familiar with the terrain" Percy sounded very diplomatic. Even though he'd rather be anywhere else than standing before the Gods again.
"This is true for you all?" he asked. We nodded in response and he did not like that. "Speak. I won't smite you for talking"
"Sorry to break it to you Lord Zeus but we are refraining from talking encase we show you up, not out of respect" Nico spoke up. Percy nearly cracked, and honestly, I almost did too. Zeus looked very very angry.
We were saved by Posideon who quickly changed the topic."Let's move on shall we?"
Zeus calmed down slightly but I could sense he was silently seething. He already had a grudge against us.
"Yes let's. I presume Chaos informed you of Lady Artemis, Lady Hestia and Lord Apollo's awareness of Estia's identity" Percy questioned.
"He did. Will she be showing the rest of us?"
I looked nervously at the group of campers, some I knew, most I didn't, Either way, I wasn't eager to reveal my identity.
"No, I will not. I'm sure the word of not one but three of your most trusted Gods will be sufficient though. I can assure you we are only here to help"
"No, it will not be sufficient, either we all know. or you will not be permitted to access either Camp." ah here it was, Zeus' big play.
"You can't do that. We do not serve you" Percy tried, defending me.
"No you don't, but you wish to operate in my territory without interference. and that's my price"
"Listen here you o-" I grabbed Nico and covered his mouth before he could finish his sentence.
"With all respect Lord Zeus, knowing Commander Estia's identity does not offer you an advantage. It's pointless and petty" Annabeth spoke as calmly as she could.
"What was your name again?" Athena asked her.
"Sofos"
"Meaning Wise. You are Clever and Wise indeed. We should trust what the girl says, Father. I for one trust that Lady Artemis and Lady Hestia wouldn't ask us to put our trust in someone untrustworthy"
Zeus grumbled before resigning "All in favour of trusting them without the requirement of Commander Estia's identity, raise your hand"
To all of our surprises, the majority of the Gods raised their hands, Posideon, Athena, Artemis, Hestia, Hades, Dionysus, Demeter, Hermes, Ares, Hephaestus, Aphrodite and Apollo.
"It's been decided, 12 of 14 gods have voted in favour. Something tells me I do not need to ask for those not in favour"
I sighed in relief, the Gods were on our side for once.
"I will not betray your trust. None of us will" I promise.
"We will hold you to that" Athena promised. though it seemed like more of a threat.
Seismos' Pov~
We really dodged a bullet there, thanks to Annabeth's smooth-talking skills Estia got to keep her identity a secret.
After a long moment of silence, Chiron spoke up, "With all that sorted the campers and I have some... concerns"
"I'd be willing to answer them," I told him while walking towards the area where the campers stood.
"How do we know you aren't the ones we should be fighting?" Clarisse asked barging to the front, looking as grim as ever.
"Because we are here to help, not cause harm. Every member of our team are former half-bloods or allies of the Gods. Why would we destroy not only our parents but our half-siblings too?"
There was muttering among the campers, I caught some small snippets of "he has a point" and "I wonder who their parents are"
"Captain Seismos is right, we're here to help, any way we can. This extends to you Chiron, While we are at Camp if you ever need anything we are at your service" Annabeth walked up beside me. I knew she missed, Chiron he was like a father to her.
"I feel like I know you both somehow. Were you ever campers of mine?"
Annabeth and I shared a look. "A long time ago, yea" I answered.
"then I have full confidence you will protect us well"
"Watch out!" Estia screamed in my mind
I spun around just in time to catch Hera attempting to remove mine and Annabeth's hoods. She was just about to grab them and would have if Estia hadn't noticed in time. I pulled out Stormbreaker and uncapped it. Estia, Nico, and Luke had drawn out their swords.
"What's the meaning of this?" Zeus demanded.
"Ask you're dammed wife. She attempted to reveal our Captain and First Commander's identities" Estia looked furious from her body language alone and her tone spat venom.
"Hera, step away from them this instance" Zeus sounded bored, almost sick of dealing with Hera.
"Can we retire the swords, please?" Athena looked at Hera with more anger than I thought she was capable of.
I put away Stormbreaker and the others followed, resheathing their swords.
"Sorry Lady Athena, again we have no desire to reveal who we are. some of our lives here did not end the best and we do not wish to relive that" I explained as best I could without giving much away.
"We will respect that. We, The Greek Gods of Olympus, swear on the River Styx we will not attempt to reveal the identities of the members of the Chaos specialist squad without their consent"
Thunder clapped, sealing the oath.
"Thank you" Annabeth looked at her gratefully
At that moment, I thought that maybe things won't go as bad as I had expected. That was such a blissful thought.
And so it begins
