"Children, time to get up. You don't want to be late for your first day back at school!"
"Alright, Mom!"
"Asriel, wake your brother up! I'm not going to come in there once again to make sure he's not still asleep!"
"Okay! Chara, get up."
Chara groaned and sat up, running a hand through his messy hair. Glancing at his phone, then at his brother, he climbed out of his warm bed and shook his head.
"I hate school. Why do we have to go?"
"Would you like to stay here in the castle all day listening to Mom talk your ear off and teaching you math?" Asriel asked as he pulled on a striped shirt.
"Hell no," Chara responded. Asriel laughed and tossed a shirt to him,
"Thought so."
Chara pulled on the shirt, quickly changing into a pair of pants and some shoes. He cast a glance at Asriel, who was busy messing with his fur. Stepping out of the room, he made his way to the kitchen to steal some food before heading to the Gaster house and toward school. As he opened the door, he was pulled into a large, rather fluffy hug.
"Good morning my child. Did you sleep well?" a sweet voice asked as the hug loosened. Chara brushed the back of his head in an attempt to flatten his hair before looking at his mother.
"I sleep just fine, Mom. Not a single nightmare this time."
"Good. Now, get something to eat before heading to school. Luckily you have a few minutes before I start kicking you out of the house," the maternal figure said, smiling at him. "Of course, your brother had better hurry up or Asgore will have to drag him to school."
Chara laughed and grabbed some toast, smiling as Asriel sprinted into the kitchen with his bag and a half thrown on sweater. Taking his bag from Asriel, Chara munched on his toast and headed out of the castle, passing his father on the throne.
"Have a good day, you two." Chara nodded and laughed as Asriel rushed by him.
"Calm yourself! We're not gonna be late."
"FRISK, WAKE UP."
Frisk opened her eyes to find the soft gaze of her older brother looking at her.
"Morning Papy," she said, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. "Is Sans up too?" The skeleton before her sighed and turned away, glancing out the door and down the hall.
"SANS! GET UP OR I'LL DRAG YOU OFF YOUR BED!"
Frisk covered her ears, giggling a bit at the slight annoyance Papyrus kept in his voice.
"Thanks, Papyrus."
"OF COURSE, DEAR SISTER."
Frisk climbed out of bed as Papyrus left, leaving the door open just a crack. As she pulled on her jacket, she spotted a white and black figure pass her door. Sighing, she finished getting dressed and made her way down to the kitchen. Frisk sighed as her sight fell upon the sleeping skeleton and the rather annoyed brother of theirs desperately trying to wake him up.
"SANS, WAKE UP. YOU'RE WALKING FRISK AND THE PRINCES TO SCHOOL," Papyrus said.
"yeah, yeah. im up."
"✌︎❒︎♏︎ ⍓︎□︎◆︎✍︎"
Frisk glanced back as a shadow fell over the doorway. The figure looked down at her before walking over to Sans and picking him up. Sans let out a small huff and chuckle as the figure set him down again. The figure gently patted Papyrus' head, grabbing the still warm mug of coffee.
"Have a good day at school, my dear." he said as he stepped past Frisk. She nodded and grabbed some breakfast. Waiting on her brother to stand and pull his jacket on, Frisk explained the recent dream she had to Papyrus.
"Wait, you dreamed of everyone finally going free while Chara dreamed about flowers?" Asriel asked as the trio walked. Frisk nodded and glanced back at her brother before looking at Chara.
"Wow, thanks, Azzy. Be glad I didn't tell her what you dreamed of." Chara said, rolling his eyes. "And don't think I won't if I get pushed too far."
"if you get pushed too far, then you might want to run, kiddo."
Chara looked back at the shorter skeleton as a chill ran up his back. Shaking his head, he moved a little further ahead of the group and grabbed the strap of his bag. He could hear Frisk grumble at her brother about trying to scare him with comments laced with threats.
"You know he changed. Otherwise, why would Dad trust him with magic?"
"ehh, true."
Chara smiled a little and shifted as Asriel joined him.
"I trust you, Chara. And I know you would tell Frisk or M about my dream if I nagged too much."
Chara laughed as the sidewalk opened up into a large path toward a building. Glazing around, the group watched as collections of students made their way inside, or to other areas to simply talk.
"well, kiddos. have a good day. dunno who will be picking you up, but it sure won't be me."
"Thanks, Sans. Bye."
Chara glanced back as Sans disappeared, then turned his attention back to the school building. It was a creamy white and stood rather tall compared to what Frisk had explained some other schools looked like. It still scares me on the first day, even though I'm a fucking senior, he thought.
"Come on, we don't want to be late getting to our home rooms so we can get our schedules," Asriel said as he gently tugged on Chara's arm. Frisk was already gone, Chara caught a glimpse of her sweater disappearing into the somewhat crowded halls of the entrance. Shrugging, Chara followed his brother into the loud halls, making their way to the library to figure out their home room. We better not have different home rooms this year.
"Dreemurr... Here it is. Asriel Dreemurr, room B213. Chara Dreemurr, room B215." Asriel read, his voice filling with dejection. "Different rooms." Chara glared at the papers, shaking his head before playfully punching his brother's shoulder.
"It's only for a few days. After that, nothing to really worry about."
"I guess you're right."
"I know I'm right, Azzy. Now come on. Let's get to our home rooms and get this day started already," he laughed. The two maneuvered their way through the crowd and toward the upper B hall, chatting all the while about what they hoped their classes were.
