The next month goes by in a blur. It is nearing the end of October and the air is finally getting a cold chill to it. Draco really doesn't know what to do with all of his free time, Harry has been at Ron and Hermione's for the last two hours. Draco wanted to stay home, Harry deserved time to be with his friends and not have Draco be his shadow for once.
After their debacle at Hogwarts they decided to cut their visit a little short, the way Severus seemed to constantly be green after their encounter permanently burned into Draco's mind. He can laugh about it now, at the time it was absolutely mortifying and he wished to be engulfed by the earth. But, other than that, the visit to Hogwarts was very enjoyable and Draco knows he will probably be accompanying Harry to many more visits in the future.
He smiles, content with life and the way it seems to be finally falling into place. He is currently listening to the stereo, the music is filling the living room and he feels like this is what he was chasing after. Maybe instead of running from his past life, he was running towards his new one.
He wonders what his life would have been like if he would have had the day off that fateful June day. Would he still be going through the motions of his sad life, he doesn't even want to imagine how terrible things still would have been. Sure, he could have lived without getting cursed and constantly pestered by the stupid Prophet. But he wouldn't change it. He would go through all of that a million times over to get to feel the way he does right now.
He smiles impossibly wider laying down on the couch, his mind wandering down the endless different routes of possibilities. He wonders what it would be like to get married. He never thought he would actually love someone enough to think about that. It's a little too soon to be thinking about it too seriously, but he can imagine it.
He can see it. He would be the one standing at the end of the aisle, he would make Harry walk down the aisle because obviously he isn't going to be the better dressed one. Draco's mother and father would be sitting in the front row. Draco would purposefully avoiding his mothers stare because she would be crying happy tears. He wouldn't want to have a red face and teary eyes so soon. He would look up and see Harry walking down the aisle, either Mrs. Weasley or Mr. Weasley would be walking him down. They would lock eyes and Harry would get that lopsided grin on his face and his eyes would adopt that shining emerald glint. His glasses might slip down his nose like they usually do. Harry wouldn't fix it, that would be Draco's job when after what feels like an eternity and no time at all, Harry would take his place beside him in front of all of their friends and family. Ron and Hermione would laugh quietly at the pair of them from their spots standing behind Harry. Pansy and Blaise would simply roll their eyes with coy smiles on their faces.
He would watch Hermione valiantly try to wipe her tears undetected. Draco would give her a knowing smile and she would grin back. Ron would rub her shoulder and give Draco a small smile as well.
Harry would lock eyes with him and both of them would forget about everyone else around them. The ceremony would feel like world's finally colliding. The new beginning of their lives as one. Draco would say something snarky and make Harry laugh as he reads his vows. Knowing Harry he would say something that would make Draco's heart clench and he would fall in love all over again. Harry would obviously stumble over his words and blush that brilliant crimson he does when he is in front of a bunch of people. His eyes would sting with tears, but his smile would be so prominent. Draco would try to argue that he wasn't crying and earn a watery laugh from Harry. He would barely listen as who ever is officiating would read their last lines. He would kiss Harry before the words 'You may now kiss the groom,' fully left their mouth.
The kiss would be not too short nor too long, it would be perfect and everyone around them shouting would make them laugh again. Harry would rest his forehead on his, that goofy smile still so ever prominent. Draco would grab his hand and run them down the aisle ignoring the wolf whistles and instead focusing on Harry and only Harry.
