It was Monday morning and for most people Monday would be the worst day of the week, but not for Carol Baskin.

The single mother of two was on her way to starting her new life with her children. Nothing could get in her way.

You see Carol had inherited a house from her grandfather, who had passed the year before.

The house wasn't actually supposed to go to her. It was supposed to go to her aunt but no one else in the family had wanted to house.

Although that raised a suspicion in Carol, she was desperate for a place to stay and did not have the luxury to contemplate anything.

Once she arrived at the fairly large home, she had immediately noticed something off. The neighbours had this odd look on their faces. They didn't say hello or even smile. They just stared at her.

She unloaded her trunk and helped her children, James and Jesse, into the house.

The moment she walked into the house she began to feel uneasy. Almost as if something or someone was watching her, but she just shook it off, thinking it was just the effect of her creepy neighbours.

Night time had come and the feeling of uneasiness hadn't disappeared. Carol then decided that she would sleep in the room with her kids for the first night.

She entered the bedroom and the moment she saw her children laying on the floor scribbling her heart starting warming up. They were the light of her life.

While walking towards them the lights started flickering and she heard a loud creek. Then her attention was drawn towards the cupboard the children were drawing by and it began tip towards her kids.

Without even thinking she sprinted forward and caught the falling cupboard right before it crushed her children.

The kids looked up in horror. Shocked at what could have happened to them if their mother hadn't come in at the right time.

"Could you two move away." She asked and they quickly shuffled away. Carol slowly layed down the cupboard, to prevent it from falling again and turned to her baby's and smiled."So! Who wants to hear a bedtime story?"

On Tuesday at 7pm Carol plopped onto her couch exhausted. She had spent all day organising the house and trying to find a school for her kids, but there just didn't seem to be any space for them. She had given up for the day and decided to take a nap on the couch.

However, James and Jesse had other plans. They were going to do some exploring

The children were opening cupboards in the kitchen trying to find something interesting.

All of a sudden a loud screech could be heard from deeper in the house. "Should we go investigate?" Jesse asked and James shook his head no.

"I think we should wake mom." James said and Jesse rolled her eyes. "Oh come on! Stop being a baby." She said as she dragged James by the arm.

The two found themselves in a long hallway. The lights dimmed and started flickering. The two grabbed onto each other and held on for dear life. Then it went completely dark.

There was silence from r a while and the two children seemed to be frozen in place.

Then James felt something grab ahold of his torso. James turned to Jesse about to say something, but before he could let out a word he got jerked out of his sister's arms.

He started screaming and kicking but whatever had a hold of him was way stronger than he was. "Jesse!" He cried.

Jesse stood confused. The lights came back on and all she saw was the end of the hallway.
