Chapter 1: Ballet and Bullies

It was the early morning of 6:30 AM as Coraline Bernard was in a studio filled with Ballet dancers who were all in the exact same movement, holding onto their bars.

'Fix your posture, Bernard!' the voice of her Coach had boomed as she obeyed and continued to do her Plié just like the other Ballerina's

Coach Ryder had blown her whistle as the teenage girls had stopped at the sound. 'Take ten, and drink some water. Some of you are still sleepy' she gave Coraline a look as a few girls had sniggered though she ignored them as always.

'Perhaps you shouldn't call us in on a Saturday?' chuckled the brunette girl, stretching her arm above her head.

'You're leaving for your boarding school on Monday, I want my best dancer to be able to perform her best pirouettes' the coach had reasoned with a smile as she patted Coraline back.

The ballerina entered the locker room, filled with rows of grey lockers that belonged to each student at the academy. Instead of sweat, it smelt more like tiger balm and Teen Spirit.

'Beware, the Clusterfuck is here' Jane Rauch spat out as her gang of girls were snickering at the brunette's nickname that they've been calling her for since they were thirteen.

'Shove off Rauch...' Coraline mumbled under her breath as she opened her locker, though she regretted it afterwards.

'What was that?' Rauch sneered as she slammed her hand against the locker beside Coraline's.

The ridiculed girl disregarded her as she kept her body facing the inside of her locker. 'What did you say to me?' she flinched as Jane raised her voice, inching closer to Coraline's face.

'I-' the brunette almost allowed herself to retort back to the raven-haired girl, though stopped herself since she knew that all it did was make things worse for herself. 'Nothing' Coraline mumbled as a response.

'That's what I thought. Thankfully, you're leaving for your stupid little boarding school in a few days' Jane had taunted her with her voice, it sounded like a broken violin.

'God, even your family doesn't want you' Jane cackled as did her friends, who had always assisted her somehow in torturing Coraline. It was like they were doing it for sport, and Jane had always won first place.

To say the truth, Coraline was used to Jennifer's relentless bullying ever since they both joined the same studio. But the brunette never let the muggle girl get the better of her as it always ended somehow violent.

After her Ballet practice had ended at 8:30 AM, Coraline packed her things as she set herself free in the streets of Brighton.

July was coming to an end as September was rolling it in, though in Brighton the cold never came until November.

She gripped on her messenger bag as the military green had collided with her light pink wrap sweater.

Coraline enjoyed wearing her ballet attire as much as she can as she walked with her leg warmers and black leggings in use.

The Bernard family lived in the most urban area of Brighton, in an apartment penthouse due to her father's profession as a lawyer.

It had been their family home since they moved out of London. Coraline stepped into the elevator as it went its way up to the penthouse.

Once a "ding" was heard, she stepped outside to find the same crown mouldings and antique furniture she always saw.

'How was ballet today, darling?' an old voice was heard as Coraline looked up from her feet to see her mother, Marilyn Bernard.
