Chapter 2: Filthy Mudblood

'Coraline!' Alice jumped out from behind the counter as the bell had rung, a brunette and a redhead entering the Ice Cream Parlour.

She tackled Coraline to the floor, both of them giggling as they lay on the checkered floor. 'Hello to you too, Al' the blue-eyed girl chuckled as she got up.

'I haven't seen you all summer!' Alice dusted herself off, patting the dust off of the apron she was wearing.

Alice Fortescue was two of Coraline's closest friends and only friends. She, Coraline, and Cale always preferred to keep their circle close, as in not really interacting with anyone too much.

'So, what have you two been up to since I've been gone?' inquired Coraline as she jumped over the counter.

'Nothing much, just Cale getting fat with the amount of Mint Choc he eats' Alice snorted as Cale protested.

'It's your dad's fault for making good ice cream! You guys are the very root of modern diabetics' he sarcastically shook his head.

'This must be brought upon the Wizengamot!' Coraline added to the satire as she scooped herself a free serving of Vanilla.

'That's it I'm going to start charging you people' Alice slammed the counter with her palm as the other two chuckled.

The bell ringed as four boys had walked in, recognized by the three as the Marauders.

Coraline cleared her voice as she and Cale, who had come behind the counter through the side door, had just awkwardly stood there while Alice had taken their orders.

'Hey, Bernard' Remus waved at the girl as she responded. Coraline never hated Remus, they both had equal respect for each other as fellow book-lovers. It was the other three that she had always thought of as too loud and outspoken.

'Did you get a Prefects badge?' she asked him in a sweet mellow voice she always used when speaking to people she wasn't that close to.

'Yup, I'm the new Gryffindor Prefect. What about you?' Remus asked the brunette as she nodded.

'Ravenclaw Prefect. I hope we get patrols together, I don't really know anyone else than you and Lily that had become Prefects' Coraline smiled as Remus chuckled.

'Ah, Bernard' Sirius entered the conversation smoothly, leaving James and Peter to argue about the best ice cream flavour.

'Black... good to see you' she sent a small kind smile towards him. 'Guessing you've heard about Remus becoming a Prefect' Sirius shook Remus' shoulders proudly.

'Perhaps you could assist him in helping us plant dung bombs in all the potion cupboards?' he asked hopefully, though he already knew her answer by the one eyebrow she was raising.

'I haven't talked to you ever since first year' Coraline stated. 'How come you still remember my name?' 

'Oh I always remember a pretty face' he winked sarcastically as she raised both her eyebrows this time.

'Sirius, you're scaring the poor girl' Remus scolded his best friend as he gave him an offended look.

'No, I'm not! I'm simply being charming as usual, aren't I Bernard?' Sirius asked the girl.

'Oh, yeah very charming' Coraline scoffed before chuckling as he gave an offended look.

'Have you not recalled the charismatic charm that I displayed to you on the Hogwarts train? That must have stuck with you until now' Sirius huffed dramatically as he always was, getting the brunette girl to let out a full laugh.
