I tried my best not to stress about meeting my dad. I didn't know what to expect, being that he hadn't been a part of my life at all. What if he's a prick? You know, the stereotypical movie of a girl who has never met her dad before. Yeah, that might end up being me.

Right before we took off, someone that looked to be able my age ran down the plane's aisle. He sat down next to me abruptly and took a deep breath of relief. As he sat down, the air surrounding me began to smell of mint and smoke.

"You alright?" I asked the stranger kindly.

"Yeah, just rushed." He said almost silently with his startling British accent while he stared straight ahead as he fixed his platinum blonde hair a bit. I smiled and got my phone out to scroll through some pictures of my family. He didn't seem like the talker type, so I didn't pester him.

"Is that your family?" He asked as he leaned over towards me, looking at my phone screen. There was a picture from a year back of me, Mom, and my sister at a restaurant that a stranger had taken for us.

"Yeah," I spoke quickly. The boy realized it was a sensitive topic at the moment and squirmed in his seat.

"I'm so sorry, I swear I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." His accent seemed to show more prominence in his sentence.

"You're totally fine. I just found out that I had a father I didn't think was alive." I said abruptly. My eyes immediately grew wide when I realized what I had just said. "I do not know why I just told you that." I laughed, trying not to make eye contact.

"Guess we're both on a roll with talking to strangers then." He smiled.

"Agreed."

I had been on a plane a couple of times before, so when the pilot informed us that we were departing in a moment, I wasn't startled. When we started to move, the blonde immediately moved his hand to mine and squeezed tight. My eyes grew wide, but I relaxed and felt pity for the boy. There was no room for words.

After a while in the air, I ended up falling asleep. It was one of the deepest periods of sleep I've had in a really long time. I would pay to get that kind of sleep again.

When I awoke, the boy was still holding my hand, and I smiled to myself as I grabbed a blanket I had in my bag.

"Still scared?" I said with a snarky tone in my voice. He looked back at me and rolled his eyes.

"You're unbelievably annoying." He paused, hesitantly. "And maybe a little bit."
