Mikey was pretty hard to fight with, especially when he already decided something for himself.

He was just so stubborn and didn’t want to compromise.

That was why you avoided arguments at all costs.

But you always wanted to come to a gang meeting with him, to see what his world looked like. You already knew his closest friends, but you also wanted to see the gang Mikey founded and led and dearly held in his heart.

So when you and Mikey were on his bed, his head placed on your lap and your fingers threading through his hair, you felt like that was the right moment to ask the question.

“No.”

That was all he said before taking your hand that stopped moving and put it on his hair to show you to continue.

“What do you mean, no?”, you asked confused.

“I mean exactly what I said, y/n. You can’t come to a meeting with me. I won’t allow it.”

You straightened up your upper body, completely ignoring his hair: “But why not? I just want to understand you and the world you are living in better.”

Mikey began to become frustrated, sitting up and looking you directly in the eyes: “Because I said so. Now let it go, y/n. Do you want any snacks?” He tried to change the subject, already standing up from the bed.

“But Mikey I-”

“Y/n, no! Why don’t you understand? I don’t want you there.”

You flinched at the sudden raise of his voice. Tears were already forming as you looked at his figure walking out of the room.

Was it really that wrong to want to understand him better? To support him with the things he does? Why did he have to raise his voice?

The tears were now freely running down your face, wetting your cheeks and lastly Mikey’s pillows. You tried to muffle your sobs with your arm, but some where escaping your mouth nonetheless.

Thinking that the discussion was over and the two of you could relax for the rest of the day, Mikey made his way to his room again, with two doraiyaki in his hand.

But all those thoughts were long forgotten when he saw your crying figure on his bed. He quickly put the food away, sitting down on the bed right next to you.

“Hey y/n, what’s wrong?“, he asked softly, stroking your back gently with his right hand.

You looked up at him, his heart hurting at seeing your tear stained face and puffy eyes.

“I just want to get to know you better and understand your world. I just want to be part of it, you know? But you just- you just dismissed me without actually listening to my explanation. And then- then you shouted and I got just really scared. I mean is it so wrong to want to support your own boyfriend?”, you explained, interrupted by some hiccups.

Mikey was shocked. He didn’t even realize that he raised his voice at you. But what was worse was that he was the reason for your crying. That was something he never wanted to be. He always wanted to protect you, but now, he was the one that hurt you.

“Fuck, y/n, I am sorry. I am really sorry for shouting at you. And you are part of my world. Fuck, you are my world. It’s just that I don’t want you to see the person I am there. I don’t want you to see me as the leader of a gang, as a delinquent. I want you to see me as me. Mikey. I am so sorry that I shouted at you, I really didn’t mean to.”

You knew that his apology was genuine. Mikey was never someone to apologize, but you could see how much he regretted his actions just by the pleading look in his eyes.

And now, you also understood why he didn’t want you to be at a meeting. And you respected that. You were just happy that he told you.

“It’s okay”, you said with a wobbly smile, looking up to your boyfriend.

He gave you a smile too before tackling you down, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck and sliding his arms around your waist.

Mikey closed his eyes while inhaling your soothing scent. He was going to show you that he really was sorry.
