(Y/N's POV)
As you woke up to the sound of your alarm, you stretched an arm to shut it off. "Five more minutes...." You mumbled to it with your eyes half-lidded.
"So annoying! Can't it see that I just wanted a good slumber before I start my first day at my new school?" You shifted to the other side of the bed.
"Wait......"
"Today is......."
You rocketed out of bed, tripping and falling onto the floor in the process.
"MY FIRST DAY AT MY NEW SCHOOL!!"
You jumped onto your feet and quickly got ready. Put on your new uniform and grab your school bag. You ran to the living room with no one to be seen— mom and dad were probably already off to work, which is not surprising for you. But thankfully, mom prepared you some toast for breakfast. But since you don't really have time, you snatched a slice and burst out of the door. Locking it and climbing down the stairs and jogging out of your apartment. You ran and ran until you reached a stoplight.
Since you got some time to rest, you checked your phone. Huh, it's only 8:10 am... and your new school starts at 8:30 am. You still got time so you chose to take it easy for the rest of the walk to school.
Your mind was a little dazed as it was still trying to process the morning rush— and somehow, it made you think the light was green, so you walked across the road, not noticing a car was about to hit you...
You turned your head to the car...
There's no time to react...
"Is... Is this how I die?"
"Is my life over?"
"I... I can't move my legs..."
As the car drove closer, you closed your eyes and silently wait for your fate...
Instead of the feeling of your bones crushing and blood spilling out of your system, you felt a pull from your arm and fell to the side of the road. As you opened your (E/C) eyes, the car whooshed in front of you, not hitting you.
But, wait... "Why am I not dead? What happened?"
You looked around only to see a person with blue hair, styled into two cute pigtails, and blue eyes.
"Hey, are you alright?!" The person asked you. You couldn't tell if they were a boy, nor a girl. But due to the clothing they wore, you're guessing it's a boy. He seemed to be your age (or maybe younger)
He was holding your arm that got pulled. "Did... did he save me?" You trulythought your life was gonna end.
"Y-yeah... I guess I'm alright..." You stuttered, still in shock. He helped you up by gently lifting you by your arm and letting it go as soon as you're back on your feet. You dusted off the dirt that got onto your uniform.
You wanted to thank the boy, he saved you after all! "Thanks..." You muttered under my breath.
The boy let out a small hum of confusion. "Sorry, I didn't catch that." He kindly told you
You spoke slightly louder for him to hear. "Th-thank you so much! I thought that was the end of me!" You exclaimed in shock, still not believing the near-death you experienced a few seconds ago.
(Nagisa's POV)
"You're very welcome!" I replied to the girl in relief— "Thank god she wasn't hurt or anything. If it wasn't for the reflex that made me grab her to the side, things could go really bad!"
She seems to still be in shock. I can't blame her, she just had a near-death experience. She was looking to the side of the road, panting with her palm on her chest.
I didn't know what to do— Should I just leave her because she's okay now? Or stay until she eases herself? But I'm just a stranger to her! Wouldn't that make her not at ease?
"You're okay now right?" I reassured her just in case. She looked at me and gave a soft nod with a smile
"Cute... Wait, no Nagisa! You're just a stranger!" I snapped to myself from the lousy monologue
"I should take my leave then. Make sure to be more careful!" I waved at her. As I was about to set foot, I felt my hand being grabbed. I turned around with a slightly blushing face. I noticed the girl was being kinda bashful.
"Hey... I didn't even get to know your name yet. You saved me after all— I owe you." She looked at me with a rather shy look
She had (E/C) eyes... They look so pretty... Wait, NO NAGISA! Again, you're a stranger!! So stop thinking about weird things! I snapped out of it and gave her a warm smile. "Nagisa Shiota, nice to meet you! And yours?"
She beamed at me with her eyes showing a hint of sparkle. "I'm (Y/N) (L/N)! Pleased to meet you!" She happily introduced herself and did an adorable sailor salute with a slight bounce in her step.
She lightly bowed in front of me as she continues "Again, thank you so much for saving me, I owe you big time!"
I chuckled and waved my hand dismissively. "It's nothing! Well, I gotta go to school now— It was nice knowing you (L/N)-San!" I waved at her before turning around, ready to take my leave.
(Y/N's POV)
"It was nice knowing you (L/N)-San!" The boy named Nagisa Shiota waved at you, taking his leave. You were kinda disappointed... You want to know more about him, but, oh well...
"Same here, I hope I see you soon Shiota-Kun!" You waved back, also ready to continue the day. You walked away, but somehow, you both were going in the same direction.
"This... got really awkward..."
You sweatdropped as you walk along the road with Shiota-Kun behind you
"No worries, maybe he'll shift to another direction!"
But after a few minutes of walking the same road...
HE'S STILL FOLLOWING YOU!!
You turned around and pointed your index finger at him. "Hey! Why are you following me?"
He was caught off guard by your sudden movement and was frantically waving his arms around, trying to find an explanation. "I- I'm not! My school is this way!" A slight flush of pink can be seen on his face.
Then it hit you...
"Ah, are you from, uhhh... shoot, how do you pronounce it again? Kunigi... Kunagigako..." You panicked as you try to properly pronounce your new school's name.
"MAY I ASK WHY IS THE SCHOOL NAME SO HARD AND FRUSTRATING??!"
Shiota-Kun managed to notice your panic and answered your confusion. "You mean... Kunugigaoka Junior High? Yeah, I'm from there." You saw Nagisa sweatdropped as he saw you suffering from a stupid tongue-twister name of a school.
He continued "Are you from there too?" You gave a hard nod to him
"Oh! If that's so, want to walk to school together?" You could feel your (E/C) eyes sparkle from his invitation.
"YEAH!" you cheered, maybe a bit too loud as you saw a few pedestrians look your way. You gave them a "sorry" wave and nod. You turned back to Shiota-Kun only to see him laughing.
"What a cute laugh!"
You could feel your face heating up from that monologue of yours "W-what's so funny?" His laughs died down soon after and he wipes away a small tear forming from his eyelid. He shakes his head and starts to walk. "Let's go, we don't want to be late now do we?"
You catch up to him, puffing your cheeks, but you weren't mad. As you both walk alongside on your way to Kunugigaoka Junior High, you checked on your phone to check the time.
"8:20 am... We still got time..." You switched your phone back off and put it into your pocket. You chatted with Shiota- Kun the whole time during the walk, sharing some quick info about each other as you get closer and closer to Kunugigaoka Junior High...
