A/N: I do NOT own MHA. This is a soulmate AU, Izuku's mark is just below her tail so neither she nor anybody else has seen it. Soulmate marks appear when you turn four, a quirk is not required to have a soulmate and not everybody gets a soulmate.

Izuku's POV

I have lived my entire life in the orphanage with the other kids. I help out the caretakers whenever possible and make sure the other kids are happy and healthy even though I'm one of the youngest in the orphanage. It's in my nature to put myself last, at least that's what the caretakers tell me. I'm turning four soon, I don't know my exact birthday and neither does anybody else, but I don't care about that I'm just happy to help others.

I woke up today and my head, tongue, and butt felt weird for some odd reason. I went to rub my head but felt something on it that wasn't there last night, it was cat ears and when I looked in the broken mirror in my bathroom I saw a green and black striped tail and green and black ears. I was so excited, I have my quirk. I ran down the stairs and right to the head caretaker of the orphanage, the one that named me. The head caretaker spotted the excited look on my face then spotted the ears, whiskers, and tail.

"Oh my god, you are adorable." They squealed, the high pitch hurting my ears. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you."

I ignored the ringing in my ears in favor of hugging the saddened caretaker. After I cheered up the head caretaker I went about my day as normal, helping wherever I could, though today I am getting looks of disgust from some of the older kids for some reason.

"Who let an animal in the building?" One of them questioned with a sneer while the others snickered.

Time Skip.

It's been six years since I got my quirk. It took a couple months for things to get worse than the rude comments from a distance but it soon turned to me receiving cat food on my pillow, that turned to the bigger ones picking me up and tossing me, saying cats always landed on there feet. While that seemed to be true it didn't lessen the emotional pain caused by the people I helped take care of. That soon became beatings which were caught by the caretakers who stopped them immediately and treated my injuries. The caretakers all elected to use a portion of their savings to pay for martial arts lessons for me, it would be so that I could take care of myself and to repay me for making their jobs alot easier without asking for anything in return. At first I refused but when they kept insisting and then said that they already paid and there were no refunds allowed I relented as to not let their generosity and hard earned money go to waste. As the lessons went on I got better at avoiding being trapped in a corner by the older kids. When this happened I'd hear them make comments about cutting off my cat features. I also am studying way above the level of anybody I know. I am learning about electronics, how to build and repair them along with coding and whatnot.

I'm now ten and I've been cornered for the first time in years. Things weren't looking too good for me.

"Get away from me." I said with fake confidence.

"What have we been telling you for years, or do you also have the memory of a cat?" The ringleader asked angrily. "Animals aren't supposed to talk and they can't be heroes, now we're gonna have to punish you much harder than before and maybe you won't forget this time round."

Trigger Warning

3rd Person POV

The ringleader gave the signal and the two biggest of the group grabbed her arms and held her in place while the others started punching and kicking until the ringleader told the others to back off but the two to keep holding her. He grabbed his pocket knife out of his pocket and went forward and grabbed her jaw. He opened her mouth and grabbed her tongue.
