A/N: TRIGGER WARNING FOR THIS CHAPTER, SLIGHT MENTION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT/ABUSE. PLEASE DON'T READ IF YOU FEEL YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO.
Hey guys so were back for another chapter, one thing I completely forgot to do in the previous chapter was to provide the translations for the Russian speech. I'm so sorry about my absence from this story but I've had writers block for a couple of weeks now and work has been stacking up. With everything opening back up from the pandemic, events that had been postponed for a couple of years have finally come around and so I've been extremely busy but I will try to update more regularly from now on.
Translations:
"Prizrak, prosnis'" - Ghost wake up
"Prizrak, ty ne khochesh' igrat' v etu igru" - Ghost, you don't wanna play this game
"Dolzhen li ya podchinit'sya, soldat" - Should I obey Soldier
Chapter eleven:
(Eden's pov)
I'd cried myself to sleep and this pushed me into a night terror, I was locked in there but I didn't know that I was in one, so in my head I was trapped in the Siberian base with Pierce and Rumlow. It was while The Winter Soldier was out on a mission and they were cornering me, wanting to touch me, wanting to do disgusting things to me. I took every measure to get away.
So when a boy stood in front of me asking if I was okay I just reacted trying to get away from him, I swung for him which he dodged which was strange considering I was faster than the average human, I kicked out at his stomach landing the hit and knocking him back into the wall. I started for him again but two other men entered the room, one I recognised as The Winter Soldier which made me stop dead in my tracks.
"I've seen her do this... it was before she had her powers though. She's inside of a dream right now." He explained to the other man who was standing next to him, I didn't believe him though. I didn't want to be caught out thinking it was a dream when it felt so real.
"Prizrak, prosnis'." The Winter soldier commanded, there was no way I was going to back down though. I sprung forward and struck him quickly but he managed to block it. He pushed me and I fell backwards, twisting mid-air I managed to land back on my feet. My head snapped up to look him in the eyes, a sinister feeling overtook me. "Prizrak, ty ne khochesh' igrat' v etu igru." He taunted me.
"Dolzhen li ya podchinit'sya, soldat?" I sneered, he didn't allow my taunt to affect him, the hard look on his face never wavering. I struck out at him again and the soldier decided he wanted to play this time around. I all but danced around him getting a few good hits in against him. The other man restrained me but his touch made me recoil and I scrambled to get away from him throwing my elbow into his stomach, this allowed me to get away as he let me go. I dodged around the boy who had asked if I was okay and darted down the corridor and through the door where a staircase stared at me.
My mind was working a million miles per minute, I thought logically though. If they had come here to get me then they would have locked the doors so I wouldn't be able to get through them so I took the stairs leading to the roof. Once I'd reached the top I rain across the roof, the cold air biting into my skin but I didn't care, I needed to get away from them all. I heard footsteps behind me and so I did the only thing I thought of and threw myself over the edge in an attempt to get away.
"EDEN!" I heard in the background, that mixed with a bit of the air whipping around me I woke up from whatever stupor I was in. I tried to use my powers but they wouldn't work. I flipped in the air as I could hear someone coming after me.
"PETER! MY POWERS AREN'T WORKING!" I screeched, I was falling fast and I knew that even though I'd likely survive the fall it would take weeks probably months to recover. Peter reached me after what seemed like hours and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me flush against his body and shot a web onto one of the balconies on the side of the tower to swing us into safety. I tucked my head into his neck clinging to him, completely terrified of what had happened minutes ago.
"Eden, are you okay?" Peter asked me and I didn't actually know.
"Um... I think so." I shuddered and Peter held me a little tighter so I leaned into him, taking his comfort. I knew my dad and Bucky wouldn't let go of this... they'd want to know why I flipped out and I was fearful that I had no choice but to tell them.
Peter lead me through the door that was on the balcony which coincidently lead into the family room, he took me over to the sofa's and sat down beside me, he still hadn't let me go thankfully. Since leaving HYDRA I really had gotten soft.
"FRIDAY, could you let Captain Rogers and Mr Barnes we're on the family floor." Peter asked Friday and she complied quickly as dad and Bucky came hurtling through the doors and headed straight for me.
"Eden... what the hell was that?" My dad asked falling to his knees in front of me and putting his hands on either side of my face, searching my eyes for something. I sighed, hating the fact that I'd have to explain what had happened to me.
"For me to explain what happened tonight, I'm going to have to start at the beginning... when I was in HYDRA... I need you all to not interrupt me though because I won't be strong enough to explain it a second time." I told them and Bucky nodded, pulling my dad away so they could sit opposite me and listen.
"Take your time." Bucky reassured me, I could tell he was already thinking of the worst... based on his own experiences. I took a deep breath and began explaining.
"Bucky I told you before that you kept me safe while we were at the Siberian base, I wasn't lying you really did. I was used to the beatings, torture and all that kind of thing but I hadn't anticipated what was to come I suppose... which is silly really because I'm literally trained to see every possibility." I shook my head as if berating myself, "I was thirteen when I managed to get Bucky out, I was so damn proud of myself for getting my only friend out, so he could have a better life. I didn't predict that mine would be worse off for it, I was obviously beaten and given my powers but um... because I was getting older and developing in more ways than just my training, Rumlow and Pierce took more of a shine to me than usual." I clenched my fists in my lap, Peters arm around me tightened slightly, it made me feel protected. "It started first as threats which I played off because how would Rumlow overpower me... with the serum and my powers... it... um didn't take long for the threats to turn into more though. Rumlow started first, catching me in the hallways in-between the training rooms and then a few weeks later Pierce heard of Rumlow's stories and decided he'd like to join in too." I stopped to gather my thoughts for a few minutes, I inhaled deeply before saying the words that scared me the most to say, "They were assaulting me for two years obviously up until the night you guys bought me here... I suppose they lost their plaything." I shrugged. "I didn't tell anybody because realistically I could never walk up to another guard and tell them because they wouldn't have cared... so I kept it to myself and I got stronger because of it. It's taken me a while to be okay with myself but I finally am, what they did to me... doesn't define me and I don't want to be what they think they turned me into." I finished, I didn't want to look up at any of them in fear of what I might see on their faces. "What happened tonight... was a product of that. I was trapped in my dream... it didn't feel like I was but all I could see in that dream was people who were coming to take me back to Pierce and Rumlow, I got away by any means necessary." I added... still not looking up.
"I'm going to kill them... I'll kill them with my bare hands." My dad's voice rang out in the room, it was full of coldness and hatred, I'd not heard my dad speak of anyone that way up until this point.
"There'll be nothing left of them... Eden... I can promise you that right now. They'll not get to you again, for as long as I'm alive." Bucky added onto what my dad had said and I felt tears flood my eyes. The only one who'd stayed quiet was Peter, his arm hadn't loosened though so that was a good sign I suppose... how was this boy going to like me now that I'd unloaded my horrid past onto him... all that baggage.
"I'll keep you safe... I swear it." His voice sounded so determined, I almost let out an audible gasp and I turned to look at him, there was fire swirling in his eyes and in that moment I completely believed he would.
