As I watched seemingly moving buildings and trees on the glass of the bus I rode, I heard my phone beep. It was a text, I took out my phone and checked the time firstly, it was 09:16. I was travelling to my parents’ house, my former home, I was very nervous. I had taken off at 08:00 and I was remaining with about thirty more minutes to reach the town. The text was from Junlin.

JUNLIN
Good morning Medrin! How is the day? Aunt told me u left early 😢 I came to visit but did not find you. Where R u? Xul?

ME
Good morning. I’m actually travelling home, to try to reconcile with my parents.

JUNLIN
Wow that’s great! I wish you all the best! Just be honest with them, they will understand.

ME
Thank you JUNLIN. I will use your advice. How did it go with your father?

JUNLIN
At first it was tough, we ended up raising voices at each other, but he understood afterwards, he told me he made a mistake of giving mom a child without loving her so the guilt made him push her away so the memories of his mistake would fade. I understood him then forgave him 🙂 because that is the first step I can take in healing.

ME
Junlin you are an inspirational person. What will you be doing today?

JUNLIN
Officially releasing the video of my single along with the members of the youth group.

ME
Gee, will Violet be there?

JUNLIN
🙂Yes she will, great right?

ME
See you.

JUNLIN
Did I do anything wrong?

ME
Bye.

I turned off the phone, I knew for sure that he would attempt to call me

I crossed the street and saw my old house easing in nearer before my eyes with every step I took. Fear crowded my mind, suddenly the front door opened and a woman came out carrying a jar, she then tipped the bird house and started to sprinkle the contents in. It was my mother! After a while, she still looked the same and still had a liking for bird keeping. I walked closer, she did not notice me. I lost confidence, I turned around then started to walk away.

“Excuse me young lady, may I help you? Sorry I didn’t see you”, my mother said.

I stopped in my tracks. I took a deep breath then turned around to face her. The smiled faded from her face and she dropped the jar of bird food from her hands, she covered her mouth with her hands then shook her head.

“Medrin? Medrin is that you?! Is that really you?!”, she ran towards me and threw her arms around me. I hugged her back and leaned on her shoulder peacefully, holding back my tears.

“Mom. Yes mom it’s me, it’s me Medrin”, I said.

“I missed you so much Medrin, I thought I would never see you again”, she said to me as she let me go then held my hands, “look at you! You’ve grown up so beautiful!”, she said.

I tried to smile, “mom….mom I’m sorry for everything”, I said.

“Shh….calm down, we will talk about that later, right now let’s get you inside and get you something to eat, your father is in too, I suppose you want to see him too”, my mother said then pulled me in. The house looked the same, but some items were missing and some were new to me. It was beautiful and peaceful
.
My father looked up at me from his newspaper then stood up, speechless. I was speechless too, I walked towards him then knelt before him, “Dad, dad I’m sorry for everything I did”, I said.

“Do you know realize it was wrong and very silly?”, he asked.

“Yes I did father, I am really sorry for that”, I said.

“Then what took you so long?”, he asked with a smile then helped me up. Once again in my life I felt protected and loved, I felt like I finally had some people I could count in.

“I know you came back to your senses my daughter, your aunt told me that you are now responsible, paying for your own school and raising your own money for your upkeep, maybe that’s just what you needed to realize the important things in life”, my father smiled then patted my shoulder. There was great joy in my heart. My family and I were reconciled, all thanks to the advice of Junlin.
