My hand scratches my head as I slowly become more conscious, not opening my eyes just yet. A deep exhalation is audible as I slowly process what happened last night. A part of me honestly doesn't even know whether it truly happened or whether I dreamt it. Sometimes you have a dream that just feels so realistic. Maybe this was one of those as well... Marie calling me, me chilling with Bailee like that, ugh, I don't know, I could see that being a dream...
It reminds me, though, that I had promised to call Emily when we got here. Oops. That hasn't happened yet. Sucking at replying to text messages, I haven't really looked at whether she had sent something on WhatsApp either. I have no idea whether Emily is awake but after having given myself a few minutes, I just search for her contact in my phone and attempt to reach her by calling."Yo."
"Emily", I smile.
"Ah, so you are still alive", Emily gasps, earning a chuckle from me.
"Sorta."
She groans. "I have missed so much already, haven't I?"
"Yup. This place is freaking amazing", I exclaim. "The house is practically on the beach, and everything you need is close by. The weather is amazing. Stella and I made up, oh, and Bailee and I maybe too, I don't know. I share a room with Gustave, and it sucks", I ramble. "Julie surprised us too. She is staying here as well with some friends, and-"
"Wowowowowowow- slow down", Emily interrupts my storytelling and chuckles.
"Well, that was basically it anyway."
"So, Bailee..?"
"Yeah... It's cool. We're cool", I say, but my voice sounds a bit off. "I mean, of course, it's not cool-cool, but it's alright. We're decent."
"Sure..."
"I'm serious."
Really? Did you forget something, maybe?
"Uhhh", suddenly remembering the second night, I have to add something to my last comment, "except for one little slip-up on my part. But other than that, everything has been cool."
"Oh boy..." Emily sighs. "What kind of slip-up are you talking about?"
"Well, there was one little argument or whatever, and I let the emotions take control of me, and I don't know. It was a weird moment, and I can't really recall it that well anymore, but I basically almost wanted to kiss her. But of course that didn't happen. So, yeah"
Emily pauses for a moment, taking in all my words.
"Why did it not happen?""She- she stopped me, I guess. But maybe it wouldn't have happened anyway. I don't know. I was just mad and frustrated, and I wanted to mock her but then I felt this strong pull and I was on the wrong side of the gun."
"Gun? What the hell?
"Yeah, sorry, isn't that what they say??" I chuckle. "You know what I mean, though. I tried to trigger her, but in the end I was the one being triggered, and I could have or would have kissed her if she had let me, but obviously she didn't."
"Tess... You still have so much longer to go. If this has already happened- if you already wanted to kiss her, how do you think this will go on?"
"Why? It was nothing. I lost control for one second, but now I've got it back. It won't happen again. Besides, it wasn't even that bad anyway."
"Because she stopped you... And maybe Bailee felt guilty to do anything with you that night as you were clearly fucked up, mentally", Emily says. "But what if Bailee has her own desires and one night she wants you too and makes a move on you?"
