Leaning back in my chair, I have my first taste of relaxation since stepping on the ship.
For as large as the pool deck is, it's still pretty crowded. I guess that's to be expected seeing as it's the first day and the ship is currently docked. I'm sure once we reach the different islands more people will be off the ship than on.
It truly is incredible. There's two pools, a hot tub, a DJ, and a food court. And that's just the part of the deck I can see. If I head toward the back of the ship, there's another pool, another hot tub, and a pizza restaurant. And then, if that's not enough, in between the two areas are a water slide and a rock climbing wall. There's also courts to play basketball and tennis, as well as a running track on the floor directly above. Tilting my head, I can see a few people already taking advantage and getting a workout in.
I'm sitting between Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui, the three of us relaxing in lounge chairs, nothing but the open sky above our heads. They're currently stripped down to their bathing suits while I'm still in my everyday clothes. I take a sip of my cherry flavored soda that Uraraka generously gifted me and smile underneath my sunhat.
The rest of our classmates are scattered along the pool area. Kirishima's already in the pool playing water volleyball with Tetsutetsu from class 3-B and a bunch of other guys I don't recognize. Denki's trying (and failing) to get Shinsou to dance with him by the DJ booth. I get a good laugh from watching Midoriya scribble frantically in his notebook as he sits along the edge of the hot tub.
"This is a nice change of scenery," Tsu says, "ribbit."
"I never want to leave," Uraraka replies.
I nod, thinking exactly the same thing. Resting my head back against the chair once again, I close my eyes, finally feeling at peace.
"HEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOO EVERRRRRRYYBOOOOOOOODDDDYYYYYY!!!"
My eyes shoot open and I sit up. Is that-
"Present Mic?" Tsu says.
Uraraka's mouth hangs open. "What is he doing?"
"What's going on, ladies and gentlemen? Allow me to properly welcome you to The Unity, the most luxurious cruising experience around! I'll be your emcee during our ten day adventure. The real name's Yamada but feel free to call me...PRESENT MIC!"
Cheers roar from the packed crowd. A lot of the women unapologetically swoon.
I blink in confusion. "Is he really the emcee?"
"Unfortunately, yes."
Aizawa lets out a groan as he shuffles into view, Eri holding his hand. I know we're on vacation, but it's still weird to see him in a Hawaiian shirt and swim trunks. He's been my teacher for three years and this is the first time I've ever seen his knees.
"Mic argued with the cruise director that he'd make a better emcee than the one they hired," he clarifies. "Being a pro hero has its perks, I suppose. It also doesn't hurt that he offered to do it for free."
"For free?" Uraraka says.
"Yes, he also offered to pay the original emcee double of what the cruise was going to pay him so there's no harm done." He sighs. "I guess it's for the best. He would've lost his mind if he had to listen to anyone else do the job for ten days straight."
Eri tugs on Aizawa's hand. "Daddy, can we go swimming now?"
He nods before directing his attention to us again. "Don't forget about the muster drill in an hour."
"We won't," I say.
From what I gather, a muster drill is just a fancy way of saying safety drill. It's something every cruise ship has to do, and attendance is mandatory. According to Aizawa, it won't take very long. It's just a way for occupants on the ship to know where to go in the event of an emergency. Still, it's organized by cabins, so I'll most likely have to stand near Bakugou during the drill.
