Till Time Ends Itself

part one

wedding day

you sat there watching Natasha get into her dress, she looked beautifl you tried to hide your saddness the best you could. she and the rest of the bridesmaids laughed and talked while you sat there listening you could feel your heart ache inside as your tummy went sour.

you were walking out down the aisle with the rest of the bridesmaids bucky smiling like a fool. you forced a smile he looked perfect you wished that it was you walking down that aisle to marry him. wishing it was you who got to dance the night away and be his wife. you blanked out before you knew it he was caring her down the aisle, you didnt meant to block it out but thankful your brain did it anyway. it would have been to hard and painfull to hear him say those sweet things to her and how much he loved her. The music started to play that sounded more like a death march

you were now sat at the brides and grooms table next to steve. you and him talked and laughed about the other night at the arcade, steve always made you forget about your prombles and thats what you needed. you and him laughed hard as people chit chatted. bucky noticed the difference between you two and didnt like it all. but he forced hiself to focus on his new wife. but every now and then he would peak over to you and steve.

you and steve were once again laughing about the man you fell from the jangle gym bucky and nat were standing right next you nat made a mental note to talk to you about the new thing that was blooming right in front of her. "what are you guys giggling about?" bucky asked you ad steve had to looked at each other with boyish smiles on your faces "oh nothing its inside joke" you said bucky was now a little sad, you told him everything and the fact that you steve were now so close bothered him but he didnt know why.

the dance floor was now open to everyone and nat and bucky were out there dancing being happy. steve was pulled by some old lady and she forced him to dance with her. you sat there all alone at the table looking like a kicked puppy, bucky noticed but he knew he couldnt do anything what would people say if the groom stoped dancing with his new wife to dance with his best friend on their wedding night. but he did want to dance with you, he always did.

steve noticed as well and left the old woman. he walked up to you had held out his hand, you looked up at him with sad eyes "come on y/n dance with me" you smiled a little and got up and grabbed his hand. "thers my pretty girl, come on!" you laughed as he lead you to the floor. he pulled you close to him as you to danced like fools. but you nor him cared about the weird looks or whispers all he wanted to do was make you happy. bucky watched as steve dipped you and pulled you closer to him, you and steve nose to nose. bucky was talking to his mother winnie he couldnt keep his eyes off you and steve he hated how much he cared.

he knew he should have been happy for you two, his two best friends in the whole world but something in him hated the idead of you being with aother man. "james dear?" his mother said following his gaze "oh james no, no you did not" his mother spoke james looked at her with his brows knotted together. "what mom?" she rised an eyebrow up at him "you did not just marry natasha when your in love with y/n" bucky froze "n-no im not in love with y/n im married to natasha" bucky said through clenched teeth.

"james you can be married to someone and love another" winnie was wise and she aslo knew her son. she knew he was in love with you the moment she heard the way he talked about you. even if he never would admit it she knew he was "no mom shes my best friend" she again rised a brow at him "yes i know that son, but you are supposed to marry your best friend, someone who knows you in and out, someone who brings out all the sides of you, someone you loves all the sides of you. and that girl over there goes and you just let her go" bucky rolled his eyes "mom im not talking about this i have to get back to my wife" he truned to walk away from his mother "one last thing dear, i just wanted to let you know you will reget this night" then she walked away and left bucky standing there.

he was pissed you and steve were dancing and looking like love itself. while he should be there with nat he should be happy not looking at his two bestfriends and longing to be next you. and his mother was not helping at all why did all these emotions rise now? why did he finally let himself realize he has in love with you on the night of his wedding? maybe because thats what forced him to realize because he just married a woman who was not you and never would be or compare. he now had to spend the rest of his life with a woman who he loved but was not in love with.

It's been two months since the wedding, you steve are hanging out more. You've been on some dates, at first Steve felt like he was a plastic version of bucky. Someone enough like bucky to make you feel somewhat whole but not enough to make you stop missing him. Not enough to make your heart forget your feelings for him. Steve was a distraction and a very good one.

Natasha and bucky have barely talked to you and steve since the wedding, steve and you have no clue as to why. You four were just growing apart, it made you sad you missed nat and bucky steve did too. But with this new found relationship you steve have been staying focused on eachother.

Maybe steve wasn't a distraction after all, he made you laugh and he cared. He called you and hung out with you he was now taking that place bucky once held in your heart. You felt good about it finally moving on letting him be happy and letting your heart heal with some help of steve.
