Chapter 35 - Sunset

The two of you play in the water, swimming, splashing, and laughing until the sky begins to turn a light shade of pink and orange, and the two of you are totally exhausted. You decide to head back for the shore and make your way to Denki's towels. He picks one up, shakes it off, and wraps it around you."

Denki: "I don't need mine. You can sit on it, if you want."

Y/N: "Oh! That's sweet of you. Only if you join me, though. Who's going to keep you warm?"

Denki blushes, taken aback by your sudden flirtiness.

Denki: "O-oh! Well, uh, you, hopefully!"

He leans back on the towel, leaning back on his arms and stretching out his legs.

Denki: "Want to watch the sunset together? I have some snacks in my bag too, if you're hungry. I even have a Bluetooth speaker, if you want to play some music."

Y/N: "Since when are you so prepared?"

You sit next to him, and he begins to shuffle through his bag.

Denki: "I just wanted to make sure we have everything we needed for the perfect date, of course."

He pulls out the speaker.

Denki: "Oops, I forgot to charge it. No worries though."

You watch his hand start to spark as he sends his electricity through the speaker, instantly bringing it back to life.

Y/N: "That's a pretty neat trick."

Denki: "Yeah, I'd say it's pretty electrifying."

Y/N: "Okay, you ruined it."

He giggles and plugs his phone in. The sound of gentle music beings to play. The sun is slowly beginning to touch the edge of the horizon, the sky turning an even more vivid shade of orange.

Y/N: "Ah. Sunsets are always so much better at the beach. The sky looks so pretty."

Denki: "Not as pretty as you, darling."

Y/N: "I knew you would say something like that."

You smile and lean your head onto his shoulder. He wraps his arm around you to pull you closer. The two of you watch the sun slowly disappear over the water, the sound of the waves and Denki's music are the only sound in an otherwise silent display. The sky slowly fades from orange, to grey, to dark blue.

Y/N: "Hey, Denki?"

Denki: "Hm?"

Y/N: "Thanks... thanks for bringing me here. I had a really good time."

Denki smiles and looks up. Stars are beginning to appear as the night quickly overtakes the sky.

Denki: "I really like being around you, Y/N. I know how I may seem, but... I just really want to see you happy. I love your smile. And I love your laugh. I want to be the one who makes you smile."

He turns to you, his cheeks slightly pink, his eyes half open, gazing at you with a dreamy look on his face. He brushes a bit of hair out of your eyes. You look down, blushing.

Denki: "And I know I call you beautiful all the time, but... you really are, you know that? I'm... glad you gave me a chance."

You finally look up again.

Y/N: "Yeah... I'm glad I did too."

Denki gives you a gentle caress on the cheek and stands, offering you his hand.

Denki: "C'mon, Y/N. Let me walk you home. You said you need to be home by eight, right? It wouldn't be proper to return a lady home late!"

The two of you walk home together, and he leads you back to your doorstep.

Denki: "Text me tomorrow?"

Y/N: "Okay."

You smile at each other before both giggling nervously, turning your heads back to the ground.

Denki: "See you, Y/N."
