Chapter 17 - It's a Date

The Next Day... 3:45PM...

Denki: "L/N! Hey! Remember when you said you'd go out with me?"

Y/N: "Um... I think I remember saying 'maybe'...."

Denki: "Okay. Aaaand? That's technically a yes."

Y/N: "Is it?"

Denki: "Yep!"

Y/N: "Umm..."

Kaminari grabs your hand and starts to drag you out of the classroom.

Y/N: "H-hey! Where are we going?!"

Denki: "We're going on a date!"

Y/N: "W-wha?"

At the Arcade...

Y/N: "Huh? Why did you bring me here?"

Denki: "I wanted to take you out on a date before the Sports Festival. You deserve a break."

Y/N: "Haha, Kaminari-"

Denki: "Call me Denki, beautiful."

Your cheeks flush.

Y/N: "B-but-"

He takes your hand and starts to pull you towards a Mario Kart game.

Denki: "C'mon! I bet you'll love this one!"

Y/N: "Uh... I've never actually played..."

Denki: "What?! Well then! We need to change that!"

Kaminari drags you to the machine and sits down next to you.

Y/N: "U-uhm... how do I play...?"

Kaminari laughs and starts to explain the controls.

Y/N: "O-okay... so... how do we start?"

He pulls out two quarters, flipping one of them with a wink before slotting it into his machine. He hands you the other quarter for yours. The game starts. You realize halfway through that you've been looking at the wrong Mario Kart the entire time. Your kart has been repeatedly smashing into a wall. The game finishes. '8th Place' pops up on your screen.

Y/N: "Ouch..."

Kaminari laughs and stands up. He circles behind you.

Denki: "Have you ever driven before?"

Y/N: "No..."

Kaminari put in another quarter and places both of his hands on top of yours. This time, he guides you through the game, leaning over you as he lightly pulls your hands in the right direction. The game finishes. First place!

Y/N: "Yes! We won!!"

Kaminari smiles and you giggle as he ruffles your hair.

Denki: "Atta girl! You're totally a pro now, right?"

Y/N: "Err... I think you kinda carried that..."

He grins down at you. You try to cover your blushing face with your hair to no avail. The two of you play Mario Kart for a couple hours. You slowly get better at playing by yourself.

Denki: "Why do you keep picking Yoshi?"

Y/N: "He's cute!!"

Denki: "Please! I think you're cuter than Yoshi any day!"
