Chapter 37 - I Love You

After class...

Mina: "Y/N!!!!! *Huff*... *Huff*... Finally!! We've been so busy that I haven't got the chance to talk to you! Where were you this morning???!!!"

Y/N: "Uh... I walked with Denki this morning..."

Mina: "Wait...! Really?!!! That's great, Y/N!! I'm so happy!!"

She rushed over and gave you a big bear hug.

Mina: "You two lovebirds are sooooo cute together!!"

Y/N: "Well... I'm not sure but... I think Denki might be upset at me."

Mina: "Wha...? Why would he be upset at you?!"

Y/N: "Like I said, I'm not sure. But... I think Denki... wants to date me."

Mina: "Is there something wrong with that...?"

Y/N: "It's just... I... I want to date him... but... I'm just worried about what my mum would say..."

She grabs you by the shoulders.

Mina: "Don't say that!!! You love him... don't you...??!?!?"

Y/N: "Yeah...?"

Mina: "Then go to him!!"

Y/N: "Y-yeah!"

Mina: "That's my girl!"

You rush out of the hallway and try to find Denki. You run all around the school, looking everywhere for him. Your mind started to go into overdrive at a certain thought. The thought of losing him. You had only known him for as long as you've been at UA. But there was something about his flirty charm that made you want to hold him and never let go. Your mind was racing. Heart pounding in your chest. You pressed your head into a wall.

Y/T: 'I'm overreacting... it's not that big of a deal, right?'

Denki: "Y/N?"

You whipped your head around.

Y/N: "Denki!"

Denki: "Hey... are you okay?"

Y/N: "Y-yeah, I'm just... uh..."

His eyes widen.

Denki: "Did I upset you?"

Y/N: "No! I'm just... I'm overreacting... For a second... I thought you were upset with me..."

Denki: "No! No... I was just frustrated... You know I'm not exactly the strongest guy in the class... I'm not even that smart. I really don't have anything going for me..."

Y/N: "What are you talking about? Denki, I think you're amazing!"

Denki: "Even if you do think that... I'm still not good enough for you."

You frown.

Y/N: "Denki..."

Denki: "Someone like you... deserves a guy who just isn't me... Y/N, I-i... I want to be by your side... I want to protect you."

Y/N: "Denki... I..."

You both stand in silence.

Y/N: "I love you."

He stared at you, wide eyed.

Denki: "Y-you... what?"

Your face turns red, realizing what you just said.

Y/N: "I... I love you! And I'm sorry about this morning... I let the feelings of others, cloud my own feelings!"

You push down your fears, letting him know exactly how you feel.

Y/N: "Denki. I. Love. You. Do you hear me?!"

Tears threaten to fall from your eyes.

Y/N: "I don't care how bad you think you are, or how you 'don't deserve me'! Denki Kaminari, I want to stay by your side for as long as I'm alive!"

He stood there, unmoving. Or really, it was impossible for him to move.

Denki: "Do you mean that?"

Y/N: "Denki, I wouldn't say it if I didn't. I do. I really do!"

He runs up to you and hugs you with all his might.

Denki: "I love you t-"

Mr Aizawa: "Both of you, get to class now!"

The two of you jump and immediately push each other away.

Y/N: "Yes sir!"

You both rush into the classroom with red faces. After class...

You walk out of the classroom, your mind muddled with thoughts.

Denki: "H-hey!"

You turn around.

Y/N: "Denki!"

Your face turns red as he jogged up to you.

Denki: "I-i... Do you... do you wanna head to a... uh..."

He was obviously struggling for words.

Y/N: "Let's go get some lunch, okay?"

Denki: "Y-yeah!"

You and Denki sit together at lunch.

Denki: "So... What do we do now?"

Y/N: "I've never dated anyone before... so you tell me."

Denki: "Well I haven't either!"

You both glance away from each other.

Y/N: "So... we both love each other..."

Denki: "I guess... we're boyfriend and girlfriend now?"

You smile.

Y/N: "I'd like that."

He smiles back.

Denki: "I'd like it too."

The two of you stare deeply into each other's eyes. You get closer and closer until- A small gasp is heard. Both of you look over and see Mina standing behind you two.

Mina: "Please don't stop! Continue!"

Y/N: "Uh... Mina?"

Mina: "Yeah?"

Y/N: "You're kinda ruining the moment."

Mina: "Ah! Sorry! I'll leave!"

She ducks behind a nearby plat, peaking around the corner to look at you and Denki. You laugh lightly and shake your head.

Y/N: "Let's just eat. Together."

Denki: "Yeah, sounds good."

The two of you eat in peace.
