I stepped out of the bathroom in just a robe, drying my hair with a towel. Karube looked up from his seat on the bed.
I settled myself beside him, and he took over drying my hair. It was something we had done since our dating days. Back when I'd stay at his place or he at mine.
When he was done, he pushed the robe off my shoulders, peppering my bare skin with soft kisses.
"Sit in the middle of the bed," he whispered. He took his shirt off and crawled to me in just his jeans. With a gentle touch, he laid me back against the pillows and hovered over me as I trailed my fingertips down his abs. "It must have been so hard for you to survive without me."
"It was," I said. I touched his cheek, and he caught my hand, kissing my palm. When his lips touched mine, I opened myself to him, and he delved in, kissing me deeply. Our tongues danced. I moaned at the sensation. I had missed him so much.
He kissed my cheek and nibbled on my ear before feathering his lips down my neck and over my collar bone. He gave attention to each breast, kissing and sucking on my nipples as I arched my back in pleasure. Then he continued on, kissing my belly and running his tongue around my belly button on his way to my thighs.
I watched him as he worked. Every time our eyes met, lightning flashed through me. His eyes were my favorite feature. I could get lost in those endless stars for hours.
He settled his face between my thighs and kissed the delicate flesh on each side before swiping his tongue through my folds. I arched my back and fisted the sheets as his tongue swirled around my sensitive nub. Oh god, I'd missed this so much. His touch, the way he made me feel, the sensation of the stubble on his upper lip and chin against my sensitive flesh. All of it drove me wild.
He parted my folds with two fingers and pressed them just inside my entrance. I moaned and clenched my walls around them. "Karube-kun," I gasped as an orgasm exploded through me.
He had his pants off and himself inside me before I floated down from the high, his thrusts taking me there again until we came together.
It was good to be home. Fuck, I'd missed this so much.
He held me for a few minutes, his chin hooked over my shoulder, our hands clasped. Then my stomach growled and he laughed. "Hungry?"
"A little," I replied, my face heating.
"Order us some delivery," he said. "I'm going to take a shower."
"What do you want?"
He got up. Goddamn, I missed that body of his. "You choose."
"I've been craving fried chicken ever since my time at the Beach."
He grinned. "Of course you have." It was one of my favorite foods. "Go ahead and order. You know what I like."
"Okay. I'll be down in the bar waiting."
It was easier to have food delivered to our bar rather than the apartment's back entrance.
I ordered our food and dressed, then headed downstairs to the bar, turning on the light when I got down there. I thought of the other me that had died on our bedroom floor. She was not there when we came home, and I figured time had reset to before her appearance.
The bar was exactly as I'd left it. Strange to think that while I'd been in Borderland for weeks, only a few hours had passed here.
My phone charger cord still lay on the counter, along with the letter that had prompted us to go out and have a good time for once. One last good time. The letter declaring we had a month to catch up on our rent or we'd lose the bar and our home. Karube had promised me he'd be able to work enough hours to cover it, but it wasn't an end-all solution. Especially since business had been slow ever since the yakuza got involved with our bar. They demanded money or else they'd shut us down. And that's exactly what was happening.
