Jennie told me that I should rest my eyes.
But I just spent the whole three hours watching Jisoo breathe.
I'm sure of this, but it pains my heart that I'll never see those beautiful eyes of her nor my eyes on her.
There's no way.
But at least, she can now connect with us..
"Ready?" Lisa asked as she tied a knot on my hospital gown. "You're so brave. I'll... I'll see you soon, Chip." she's not looking at me.
"You can kiss me goodbye now, Lili." I teased her as I held up her chin.
"Heck! I'll kiss you after the surgery." Then she smiled.
"Okay lovebirds, times up." Jennie interrupted, she's hiding her worried face with her gummy smile.
Jennie and Lisa pushed my hospital bed out of the room to the hallway, where we meet Jisoo in her bed, who has no idea of what's happening.
"You can touch her, Chaeng. She's asleep." Jennie said.
This cat really can read minds.
I extended my arms and touched her cheeks.
This is the last time.
I want her face to be the last thing that I'll see and bury it's details in my head.
The nurses took over after Lisa squeezed my cheeks.
They pushed our bed inside the operating room. Placed us side by side with Jisoo still sleeping. The nurse grabbed Jisoo's hand and linked it to mine. Then she smiled.
"Everything will be okay," she said as she pricked my pulse with anesthesia. "Calm down, everything will be fine."
I heard a ticking monitor beep uncontrollably as Jisoo's hands fell out of my grip..
"The patient's heartbeat is irregular..we need to.." one of them said.
I tried to stop my eyes from closing..
"Quick! We're losing her!"
Who? Who are they trying to revive? Is it Jisoo??
No..
I tried to fight my sleepy eyes but my body can't take it anymore.
I let consciousness drift..
Jisoo..
Jisoo.. soon enough..
Everything will be fine..
"Chipmunk?"
That voice!
.
.
.That sweet voice that my heart will never forget.
"Chaeng? She's awake!"
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in a hospital bed, with Lisa and Jennie crying at my side.
They were looking at me with overflowing tears. Jennie immediately hugged me and started rubbing her eyes on my shoulder.
While Lisa can't look straight at me..
She can't..
She..
Why??
Why can I still see them?! What happened?!
