Brandon POV
I really hate going to these damn upscale charity events, They always want you to donate the most obscene amount of money only to pocket most of it. I guess the plus side for me is to network with more business moguls and expand my business.
I arrived in New York with Natalie to attend the King's Annual Charity Ball. I wasn't shocked to receive the invitation since I have been doing business with King Industries for years. I had heard that Mr.King finally retired and now his son Austin King is the new CEO and running the company.
I only met the man twice and I must say it was rather an uncomfortable encounter we had. He seemed to have a dislike for me for some reason but I couldn't understand why, But nonetheless we still held a great partnership with their company.
Natalie and I finally arrived to the The Ritz-Carlton Hotel to rest and get ready for the event tonight.
It took alot of convincing for me to get Natalie to agree to come on this trip, things with us are only getting worse but I still have hope that she may change an we can fix our marriage. I still love her despite her faults, maybe this trip will reunite the spark between us.
As we are getting ready for the party, Natalie walks out of the bathroom wearing this tight red sparkling designer gown that shows alot of her cleavage with a high slit on the side to reveal her mid thigh.
I sighed becoming irritated. She knows I dislike her dressing this way. It's like she's begging for negative attention.
"What's wrong now Brandon?"
"Nothing its just, don't you think that dress may be a little inappropriate to wear to the party tonight?"
"No I don't, why you don't like it?"
"I like it, it's just very revealing for this type of occasion. I don't want you feeling uncomfortable."
"You used to love it when I dressed like this, now all of a sudden it's a problem. I swear I can never win with you Brandon."
"Natalie I dont want to fight about this, I was just concerned because I don't want you to draw the wrong kind of attention to yourself."
"Oh so you think the way I dress will embarrass you and give your bougie snobbish a** collegues something to gossip about, I don't even know why I even agreed to come to this stupid a** event all you ever do is criticize everything I do only for us to come here and put up a front like we're a f**kin perfect couple!"
"Fine where the f**kin dress, I was only trying to look out for you!"
"No you just cared about your f**kin image like always!"
"Look I'm done arguing about this just finish getting ready so we won't be late."
I turned and walked out just tired of always fighting with Natalie over every little thing. It's like she constantly picks a fight with me just to piss me off.
I don't have time to deal with her nonsense tonight I just want to hurry up and make this appearance and get it over with.
As we arrive to the venue, the party is in full swing as everyone is mingling, dancing and enjoying themselves and we decide to walk around the party an chat with a few collegues and their spouses making light conversation, when I spot Austin King in the middle of the ballroom with his beautiful companion laughing and talking with other guests.
I can't quite see the woman's face he's with since she's partially turned away from me, but damn she looked amazing in her gown. Curves to die for but I can't shake the feeling she seems oddly familiar.
As we approached Austin to greet an thank him for the invite he turned around with the beautiful woman on his arm and my face paled. I couldn't believe who I was seeing. Someone I thought I would never see again and regretfully that I hurt and betrayed.
"Well hello Brandon an Natalie, nice to see you two again."
"Nice to see you again as well, Danielle."
