Chapter 4

**Emma pov**

       I feel so bad that the paparazzi scared Journee so bad. I hope she will eventually get over it but for now I'll just keep her close when they are around. I am opening my apartment door when my phone starts to ring. I put down the shopping bags and I check who it is. Leo, my boyfriend, is calling.

I finish opening the door for Journee and ask her, "Would you mind if I take this?" "No." Journee replies as she walks in. I hit answer as I pick up the bags and walk inside the apartment.

L- hey Em

L- hello love

M- How did this morning go?

E- It was good.

L- So you're not going to tell me if you adopted.

E- No if I'm pretty sure that not telling you is annoying you so I think I'm good.

L- Seriously Em.

E- Fine. Her name is Journee and she's three and you're going to love her. She has hazel brown eyes and brown curly hair and she is very sweet.

L- It's killing me to not be with you and meet her, but my work schedule is just so crazy right now.

E- I know, we haven't seen each other in over a month, but you will be with us on Christmas right?

L- Wouldn't miss it for the world and hopefully I'll be able to see you guys before then.

E- Okay love. I better go Journee is giving me looks wondering who I'm talking to I better explain.

L- You haven't told her about me?

E- It's been a crazy morning, and it hasn't come up yet.

L- Okay love. What is she going to call me?

E- I don't know what would you like to be called?

L- What does she call you?

E- Mum

L- Okay I'll just be Leo

E- Okay babe I got to go. Miss you. Love you

L- I love you and miss you more.

E- I don't think so.

L- I know so bye love.

E- bye

    As soon as I hit end Journee asks, "Who was that?" "That was my boyfriend Leo." I reply. "Oh." She responds looking a little confused. "Where is he?" She asks. "He plays rugby and his work schedule is crazy. He is Brazil at the moment at a rugby game." I tell Journee. "Oh okay. How long have you been dating him?" Journee asks. "About one and a half years." I reply. I really love Leo he is such a nice man. "Did he know that you were going to adopt? Mummy I'm scared he isn't going to like me." Journee says almost in tears. I hold her in my arms and say softly, "Journee, he is going to love you. He would be here, but he has to work. He fully supported my decision to adopt you. He wanted to be there with me today but we would of had to wait until after Christmas to adopt before both of our crazy schedules opened up, and we wanted to have you before Christmas." "Okay mum sorry for crying so much today." Journee says while slowly calming herself down. "There is no need to apologize. You have been through a lot today." I reply. We sit there hugging for a few minutes and then the door bell rings.

**Journee pov**

       Once I tell mum she can answer the phone I walk into the apartment over to the couch. I wonder who mom is talking to. As mum sets the shopping bags on the kitchen counter she says to whoever she is on the phone with, "No if I'm pretty sure that not telling you is annoying you so I think I'm good." Oh she is probably talking to a friend. "Fine. Her name is Journee and she's nine and you're going to love her. She has hazel brown eyes and brown curly hair and she is very sweet." Mum says as she walks over and sits on the other side of the couch. I slightly blush at this comment, and the then mum says, "I know, we haven't seen each other in over a month, but you will be with us on Christmas right?" Who in the world is this? I send mum a look and then she looks at me and laughs. "Okay love. I better go Journee is giving me looks wondering who I'm talking to I better explain." Mum says to whoever she is on the phone with. Love? Who is she talking too!?!  "It's been a crazy morning, and it hasn't come up. I don't know what would you like to be called? Mum Okay babe I got to go. Miss you. Love you. I don't think so. bye." Mum says finishing her conversation. She has a lot to explain.

         As soon as mum hit end I ask, "Who was that?" "That was my boyfriend Leo." Mum replies. "Oh." I respond. Why was he not mentioned earlier? "Where is he?" I asks. Mummy replies. "Did he know that you were going to adopt? Mummy I'm scared he isn't going to like me." I say with tears threatening to fall. Mum wraps her arms around me and says softly, "Journee, Leo is going to love you. He would be here, but he has to work. He fully supported my decision to adopt you. Leo wanted to be there with me today but we would of had to wait until after Christmas to adopt before both of our crazy schedules opened up, and we wanted to have you before Christmas." "Okay mum sorry for crying so much today." I say I'm a little less worried about Matt now. "There is no need to apologize. You have been through a lot today." Mum reply. She is right less than twenty-four hours ago I was an orphan with nothing and no one to love me, and now I have a mum and a whole new life to start We sit there hugging for a few minutes and then the door bell rings.
