Corin Phillips

As I sat in a red booth sipping the last of my Cookies N' Cream milkshake, a laugh overtook me and I immediately struggled to keep the shake in my mouth.

The girl directly in front of me looked shocked and dropped the fry she was about to eat. "Oh my God, are you okay?"

I nodded and swallowed. "I'm sorry, I just thought it was funny how we're sitting here eating lunch as if old friends, and I don't even know your name!"

Confusion but then realization washed over my new friends face and she began to laugh as well. "I totally forgot! I've introduced myself so many times today I guess I failed to mention to you that my name is Skylar Evans. Sky for short."

"Corin Phillips. Plain and boring name. My boyfriend calls me Core but it's silly really." I stated as I gathered our trash together to throw it out.

"Corin huh? Well Corin, it looks as if we're gonna be good friends." And with that she outstretched her hand and I shook it.

"Well duh, don't all good friendships start with lemonade poured all over someone?" I stated, causing Skylar to laugh pretty hard.

"You're pretty funny Phillips. So what are you majoring in at MVSA?"

"Piano." I said, expecting her to dislike me all together now. I mean who becomes friends with a chick who just hits keys all day long and has a passion for it? Mm basically no one. "I know it doesn't seem like much but I love it."

"What?! No way! I've always wanted to play but my grandmother taught my bestfriend instead of me. Who would've guessed right? She must've saw more potential in him." Skylar chuckled but then grew a little solemn, leaving me wondering about this bestfriend.

Waning to raise her spirits again, I asked about her major.

"Oh!" She immediately lit up. "I dance. You name the style, I know it. Hip-hop is what I'm most skilled at, but I got different scholarships to MVSA for three different dance types."

"More than one scholarship? Dang Sky, I have to see you dance now or I might miss out on the performance of my life!"

Skylar laughed and replied. "Only if I get to hear you play. Piano soothes me after a hard worked day."

"It's a deal then." I promised.

As we gathered our trash, threw it out and headed to her motorcycle I received a text that made my heart flutter.

Come back soon Core, I miss you and have something I need to ask - H.

A light blush appeared on my face as I responded and hopped on behind my new friend.

"Who's got you flattered?" Skylar smirked as we pulled out of the parking lot.

"Someone special."

And as if reading my thoughts, Skylar sped up to college, getting us there in record time if there even was one.

Harry apparently needed to ask me if I would join him on a date this evening.

Our first date in fact.
