I watch as Jack and Chloe join hands in front of me and feel another piece of my heart break off. Why does Chloe have to be here? Don't get me wrong, Chloe's great and all, but seeing her and Jack together destroys me inside. If I can't have love, Jack shouldn't be able to either.

It's not my fault I think that way. I can't control my feelings.

We arrive at Debbie's restaurant and I roll my eyes at Sasha.

"So this is your big idea?" I ask. "Taking me to eat at a restaurant owned by a woman I met four years ago?"

She snorts. "No. I'm just hungry."

"You can't go five minutes without a fried chicken break?" I say.

"Nope." She smiles and walks up to the counter. I sigh and and sit down at one of the tables to sulk and feel sorry about life.

My eyes wander around the place until they find Jack and Chloe a few feet away from me. Jack is saying something, a smirk on his face, and Chloe blushes and laughs. Aww, so sweet.

Take an ax to my face.

I move closer so I can hear what Jack is saying that is soo funny.

I shouldn't have.

"You'll be moaning my name tonight, you know." Jack tells her, raising their linked hands to kiss her fingers.

Chloe slaps his arm. "Jack, stop being such a perv. We brought kids here!"

Jack and Chloe turn simultaneously to look at me, seeing me staring. I turn my head quickly, turning red.

Jack snorts. "You're only two years older than Max, you dork."

"Still!"

I glance up and see that they've already averted their attentions back to each other. Chloe grins at Jack, who pokes her belly.

"I still love you, even if you are a child." Jack teases, smirking.

"You're barely older than me, Jackson." Chloe sneers, untwining her fingers from his and spinning out of reach.

Jack moves forward, quickly grabbing her arm and twisting her into his embrace. He touches his lips to hers, and she melts into his arms.

Why can't I have that effect on girls?

Sasha returns with two greasy boxes of chicken nuggets and hands one to me.

"Eat." She commands. I take the box from her.

"Thanks, but you didn't have to buy me food." I say, opening the box.

"Wasn't for you, Hun." She says through a mouthful of chicken. "You need to eat if you wanna be able to walk all over town today.

"Well, I don't want to, so..." I say.

"Well, you don't have a choice." She says. I roll my eyes and shove a chicken nugget in my mouth, realising how hungry I really am. "I wouldn't have done this anyway if Debbie hadn't insisted on it." She contnues.

I frown. "What do you mean?" I ask.

"I mean, that Debbie said you needed to get out, and she told us to make you do it." She explains. "I wasn't gonna do it because, one, I knew you'd never go for it, and two, I have people to train. But nooo. Little Maxy needs friends."

I roll my eyes again, something I seem to be doing a lot today. "I said 'Thank you,' now take it or leave it."

"Yeah, whatever." She says.
