So, if you haven't already noticed, I went and made  few changes, including switching the first and third chapters around. I wanted to bring to attention that that was meant to happen, none of you are going crazy, and neither is the technology that you're reading this on.

Unless one of you is crazy, then I suggest a mental institution. I hear they're good with that kind of thing.

Just kidding.

Anyways...

Love you all!

Four: Steamy Dreams and Rachelle

"Lena, it's getting late. You should probably go." I yawn, stretching. Lena snuggles closer to me on the couch.

"Not yet." She says.

We're sitting on the couch in my apartment watching Divergent--a movie from Pre-Pangaea. Well, we were watching it. Now it's the ending credits.

I wrap my arm around her shoulders, smiling down at her. Her beautiful green eyes are slowly closing as she dozes. I chuckle lightly. She opens her eyes and looks at me. She smiles.

"What?" She asks.

I shake my head. "Nothing. You're just really cute." She blushes and looks away. I laugh and place two fingers under her chin, making her look at me. I brush a loose strand of dark hair out of her eyes.

"You're so beautiful." I say, smiling. She turns slightly redder as she smiles back.

"You're pretty great yourself, Maxy." She says. I smirk.

"Oh, am I?" I say. She nods, her nose brushing against mine. I then realize how close we are. One slight movement and my lips would be pressed against hers. That scares me a little, honestly.

In twelve years, four of whuch were spent in Mercywood where this behavior is the norm, I've never actually kissed a girl. Sure, there have been some slip-ups and kisses on the cheek or nose, but not ever an actual kiss. What if I mess up? What would happen then? Would she hate me forever?

Calm down Max.  You're thinking way too much about this.

"Well, what are you gonna do about it?" I tease. She smiles and leans forward. Our lips only touch slightly before someone knocks on the door. Lena and I quickly sit up, separating ourselves from each other.

And then I'm on my bed. I look around, confused. What just happened? Where's Lena?

And then it hits me.

I sigh and run a hand through my hair. Wow, Maxwell. Dreaming about Lena.

Life.

Someone knocks on my door again. I guess at least one part of my dream was real.

I stand up and glance at my reflection in the mirror. I have serious bedhead.

This wouldn't happen if people didn't always feel the need to be my human alarm clocks.

I smooth my hair down and slip on a shirt. That's one thing I've picked up down here in Mercywood--it's okay to sleep shirtless.

Just okay to answer the door that way. (Hint hint Jack).

I take my time walking down the hallway to the door. And whoever is at the door is getting very impatient.

"Yo, Bitch!" Yells Jack from the other side of the door. "Open the damn door!"

What a charmer.

I open the door and glare at Jack. Of course he has no shirt on.

Definitely a charmer.

"What do you want?" I growl. "I was sleeping."

Jack chuckles, ruffling my hair. "Obviously." He leans against the door frame.

"You couldn't have at least put on a shirt?" I ask smoothing my hair back down.

He shakes his head. "Your apartment's right next to mine. No use bothering with things like clothes."

I roll my eyes. "Whatever." I grab a jacket and toss it to him. "Let's go for some food." I suggest, stretching. He nods and slips on the jacket, leaving it halfway unzipped. Classic Jack.

"Afterwards we can go to the METF." He says. "We might have a raid coming up."

"Mm." I grunt. I don't really like raids all that much. They're kind of boring, just going in and taking corn and crap. I like excitement.

That doesn't sound weird at all...

We step out of the elevator a few minutes later. Jack rolls up the sleeves on my jacket and unzips it the rest of he way. I frown at him. He looks at me and shrugs.

"It's hot." He says. I roll my eyes.

A group of girls gets on he elevator after we get off. This group happens to include Lena. I smile at her as she walks by. She raises an eyebrow and walks past me.

Oh yeah. We're not exactly friends.

I look up and see Jack smirking at me.

"What?" I ask. He gestures toward the elevator.

"You like her?" He asks. I lower my head, blushing. He grins, his eyes getting wide.

"You do!" He hisses. I glare at him and don't reply. Another girl walks by and gets on the the elevator. I recognize her as the girl that was with Lena the othet day at Debbie's. Jack wolf-whistles as she walks by.

"If you get the other one, get me this one." He says. I look at him, and so does the girl.

"Dude--" I begin.

"Hey, haven't I seen you before?" Asks the girl. I don't realise she's talking to me until Jack nudges me with his elbow. I quickly nod.

"I think you were at Debbie's the other day." I say. She thinks for a minute and then claps her hands.

"Oh yeah!" She says. "You're the one who kissed Lena!" My eyes widen and I blush. She wasn't supposed to know that.

Jack gapes at me.

"You what!" He exclaims. "And you didn't-"

I clamp my hand over his mouth, kicking him hard in the leg. He cries out in pain and I laugh nervously.

"Yeah, sort of." I say. Jack swats my hand away and rubs his leg. The girl smirks at him.

"And you were the one making out with the red headed chick." She says. I stifle a laugh, cleverly covering it up with a cough. Jack glares at me.

"Yup, that was him." I say. He shoots me a look that says "Just wait till we're alone at the METF and I can beat you in private."

Well, maybe it didn't say all that. But that's what it implied.

The girl laughs, looking Jack up and down. Jack just smirks.

"Rachelle! Get over here!" Says Lena from the elevator behind me. I smile. Even her voice is beautiful. The girl chuckles and struts off towards the elevator. Jack throws her one last glance over his shoulder before the door closes.

"Rachelle." He says. "I like it."

I punch him in the arm. "Chloe." I say. "You have Chloe, dude."

"Whatever." He says, opening the door.

"You wanna know a secret?" I ask, following him out.

He looks at me. "What?" Then he grins and wiggles his eyebrows. "Is it about you and that girl?" He asks.

I smirk. "Nope. About you and Rachelle."

"What?" He says eagerly. "Can you hook us up?"

I roll my eyes. "Chloe, dude. You've got Chloe." I say. "And no." I smirk, starting off down the alleyway. "Your fly was down the whole time." I round a corner, laughing as Jack freaks out behind me.
