A Hidden Love (Vi x Reader)

Chapter 2 1/3: Welcome to the Playground

I'm glad I grabbed my jacket before we left because being so high in the air is bringing a chill to my bones. I still don't understand how this is shielding us from the enforcers view. Vi reaches the roof of the building we're climbing up and disappears from my sight. Eventually, she calls for Powder. "Hey Powder, come look at this." she says. I put my hands on the young girls shoulders and lead her towards her sister. "Whoa" she mutters. I chuckle and grab Vi's arm. 

"One day, I'm gonna ride in one of those things." says the younger girl. Mylo walks next to her and puts a finger gun up in the air. "Yeah and one day I'm gonna shoot one of em down." he continues, pushing the imaginary trigger. I push him a little bit so he almost falls off the side and he looks at me. "What are you gonna do about it?" I ask him, putting up my hands to fight in a playful motion. He throws a fake punch and I grab his head, putting my knuckles on the scalp and moving them around fast. He attempts to headbutt me but Vi pulls us apart and points to another one of these outrageously tall buildings. "Before you two fall off the roof can we at least reach the place?" she says and begins the contemplate the jump from our spot to the next roof. 

"Kiss my ass, Vi." I say and wink when she turns around to look me in the eye. "Alright, alright. Let's just get this over with. Vander's gonna kill us." says Claggor. "He won't. Plus this is exactly the kind of stuff he pulled when he was our age." says Vi, right before jumping down. For a second, I thought maybe she didn't make it, until I see her emerge on the other roof. Next Mylo goes, landing somewhat smoothly and Claggor completely landing on his belly but still managing to keep the cupcake he grabbed in his mouth.

Next was my turn. I turn to look at Powder and give her a smile then I slide down the side of the roof. I quickly grab onto the railing of the balcony below me and climb with my back to the building my friends are on top of. I jump and land right next to Vi with her grabbing my arms to keep me steady. I give her a quick smirk and wink and she does the same back.

Then, we all turn to Powder. "Called it. This ones on you Vi." says Mylo. I give him a hidden finger from behind my back and turn back to the blue haired girl on the building across from us. "I'll get her." says Claggor but I grab his shirt before he can walk any farther.

"No, Powder look at me! Remember what I told you?" says the pink haired girl next to me. I continue looking at Powder, even with her looking down to the floor below her. "That," she pauses and exhales the breath she was holding, "I'm ready.". Vi holds her hands in a motion to tell her sister to go on. "Ok, so?" she says and Powder looks down again. 

Now don't get me wrong, Powder is practically my own little sister. I've known her since her and Vi showed up with Vander one day not much longer after I arrived. But sometimes, she makes things harder on herself than they need to be. Shes a very smart girl but she's always been so invested in trying to win other peoples approval that she never thought to get her own. And I guess in a way that's what makes Powder Powder. But it does get a little annoying when we have a job and she decides to sike herself out so much that it brings everything down to practically slow mo. But I would never-ever tell her or anyone this because if she by some chance heard it, I think it would effect her more than anything. And I would do anything to protect her.

But anyways, after I'm back in reality, I see Powder is already hanging on the railing of the balcony I was on just moments ago. And as she takes the big leap, I see her underestimating the jump so she lands at the slant of the roof. She smiles before she notices but quickly starts falling backwards before Vi can hold her up. But luckily she does grab her anyway before she completely falls and hoists her back up and steady.

"Thanks." Powder mutters and Vi just nods her head. I give Powder another little smile, and she looks away from my eyes. I do feel bad, she is obviously trying very hard, but eventually she needs to get out of her own head.

Once we all get to the balcony of the place we were trying to get to all along, Mylo attempts to open the door. "Who locks their balcony?" he says out loud. I roll my eyes. "Just hurry up." I say. Claggor, Powder, and I all look down at the people below. I've always been intrigued on the life the topsiders live. What do they do with all the time they must have on their hands. "Woah, there's a ton of enforcers down there." says Claggor. I nod my head and look back towards Mylo who's still trying to pick the lock on the door.

"Means we're in the right place. You gonna get that door open any time soon?" asks Vi. I chuckle and glance back at Powder who's just playing with the dirt under her nails. "Working on it. Seeing as I'm the only one who knows how to pick locks around here, I suggest-" Mylo says before getting interrupted by Vi kicking the door in. I guess she isn't taking his shit today either.

We all walk into the apartment, making sure not to step on the glass. I immediately walk over to a book shelf I see in a corner while everybody else disperses around the room. I hear Mylo says animals before finally walking into the room. But then, sadly, he speaks again, "You know, Claggor you might be right for once. We are definitely not supposed to be here.". I mumble a confirming phrase to that and I hear everybody touching expensive, rich people things. I grab one of the books on the shelf and look at the first page. Considering Vander and I are the only ones that can read at home, I like to refresh myself every once in a while with stealing... I mean borrowing a new book. I've tried to teach the others but none of them have enough patience. Except for Powder, she seems to want to learn.

I read the first page and quickly put it back. It was kind of trash. I walk over to Vi and look at the board she has her eyesight on. I glance through all the writing and notice its a whole bunch of equations. "This guy must be some kind of inventor." I say and she just nods her head. I hear Powder talking about a velviani and Mylo talking about a nose trimmer but I kind of just block them out. 

Eventually Powder heads off into a separate room and I follow into the room next to it. I look around the room and realize it must be the guys bedroom. If the bed didn't give it away, the journal sitting on a desk with a plush toy did. I laugh and walk over to the open book, picking it up. I look at the name and date at the top. The name was Jayce, but how?

Suddenly, my thoughts get interrupted when there's banging at the door and Vi telling me and Powder to come on. I throw the journal down and run back out, meeting Powder in the little hallway between the rooms. We both make it out of the balcony doors and see Mylo and Claggor figuring out a way to get down. But before we can even take a second to think, a boom rushes towards us and we're all thrown in different directions. And my vision goes black.

This one is thankfully longer so I know I can at least fit the first episode into 3 chapters. Which may seem like a lot cause it is. But we'll talk about that later. Tootles!!!
