The Start of a New Beginning

Abbi is getting ready for bed when she hears a loud and painful scream come from her mom. She runs down the stairs to find a strange and horrific creature that you would only see on TV feasting on her mom. Abbi panics as she tries to shove the creature off of her mother but it is too late she is already gone and starting to turn into one of them. Abbi's father runs down the stairs to find out what all the commotion is but he can't believe his eyes when he sees his wife lying on the ground with a zombie like creature eating her guts. Abbi looks over at her father with tears streaming down her face. She is terrified and doesn't know what to do. Her father grabs a knife and shoves it into the zombie's head then into his wife's. While he was doing this Abbi was gathering things together so they can leave and find safety but her father doesn't want to leave her now dead mother. "We can't just stay here Dad!" Abbi shouts at her father with anger. "I know you are upset so aren't I but we can't stay here! We have to leave right NOW!" "No, I-I can't...Abbi you go I am staying here. Go find safety! Now! I love you sweetie! Now go!" Abbi hesitates, she doesn't want to leave her father especially here where those creatures can get to him like they did her mother. She looks one last time at him and says "I love you Dad please try to be safe!" Those were the last words she has ever said to her father. Abbi runs out the door with her bag full of food, water, and wepaons. Her father never taught her how to use a gun but she still had one in her bag. She also had knives. She pulls out a long sword like knife and remembers when she first got it. Her dad took her out to a flea market to do some fun but unnecessary shopping. She rememebers running up towards the sword like knife and telling her dad that she really wanted it. Her father did hesitate but got it for her only because she agreed to the rules about the knife. She was extremely happy but she hears a loud grunting noise that scares her out of her daydream. It was a group of zombies heading right towards her. Abbi had no clue what to do but run. The zombies were slow but did start to catch up with her eventually. "How do I kill these damn things!?" she mumbles to herself. She flashes back to when her father killed the zombie in the kitchen. "I stab it in the brain! DUH!" Abbi turns around with her knife in her hand and jabs it right into the zombie's brain a couple of times till it drops down on the ground and doesn't make anymore noises or movements. She looks down at her hands,amazed. "Damn, that was straight up AWESOME!" Another grunting noise ruins Abbi's excitement but this time she knows exactly what to do. The zombies comes right at her with its' arms flapping all around. It knocks and pins Abbi down. All she can do is scream because her hand is underneath the zombie. All she can see is the zombie's mouth snapping at her with its' sharp teeth and extremely smelly breath. As she is screaming for help more zombies start to form around her till she hears a loud gun shot and a zombie fall over. Abbi looks around to see where the gun shot has come from. Behind a car is a guy with a shot gun aiming at all the zombies around her. He had a Sheriff uniform on and his face was well shaven. He didn't look familiar for a guy who was a Sheriff in her own town. Abbi forgot about the zombie laying on top of her and starts screaming again. "QUIET DOWN YOU WILL ATTRACT MORE OF THEM!" Abbi stops screaming. The man finishes off the rest of the zombies and comes over towards Abbi and puts a knife through the skull of the zombie lying on top of her. Abbi stares at the strange man as he pulls the zombie off of her and puts out a hand to help her up. "Are you going to take my hand or are you just going to lay down there and become zombie bait?" Abbi reaches for his hand. "Who-Who are you?" "I am Rick Grimes. I am surprised you don't know this I mean I am the Sheriff of your town." "I-I'm sorry sir. I-I never pay attention to those sorts of things." Abbi looks down at her shoes so it isn't as awkward. "Now what is your name?" "Oh, I am Abbi Walker. I live on 42nd Street. My mother got eaten by a zombie and my father decided to stay with her even though she is dead." Rick looks at Abbi with sadness. "I was at work when all this happened. I went home but my family wasn't there. I am on a journey to look for them. Would you like to join?" Abbi looks at him with confusion. "Why would you want me to go with you? You barely know me." "You are a young girl and you obviously need protection. Besides when I find my son I am pretty sure you guys will get along." "Okay I will go only because you are right."
