Rick opens the door of the Sheriff's office and slowly walks out holding his gun, ready to fire at any moment. Abbi slowly follows behind Rick holding the gun she had in her bag. Rick looks at Abbi and says "Do you know how to use a gun Abbi?" "No, I don't. My dad never taught me how to use one. We both never thought I would need to know how." "That is understandable you do look rather young. Perhaps I can show you." Abbi looks at Rick with a slight smile."Can you please?" Rick takes her up behind a big white van to show her how to use the gun. "Let's see you have an AMT Automag V." "Damn, that's really cool how you can identify a gun that easily." "Well I am a Sheriff and I do use guns but let's get back to this okay?" Rick grabs the gun from Abbi and shows her how to take the safety lock off of it and how to put it back on. He also taught her how to hold it and how to aim. "Now look at me. I am going to shoot this tree branch but watch how I do it." Abbi watches as Rick pulls back the trigger slowly and aims toward a certain part of the branch. Rick shoots and a loud bang comes out of the gun. Abbi watches in amazement and Rick notices the way she is looking at the hole in the branch. "See how dangerous and deadly these thing are?" "Yes." "Just be careful with it okay? Do you understand how I did that?" "Yes. Can I try now Rick?" Rick nods and hands over the gun."Aim for the branch a tad bit higher than mine." Abbi pulls the trigger slowly and aims towards the branch. Before she shoots she flashes back to when her dad took her hunting with him. She remembers watching her father shoot and her asking if she could try. Her father wouldn't let her and she now understands why. It's dangerous. Abbi drops the gun and starts crying. Rick grabs her and wraps her up into a hug."It's okay. It's going to be okay." He rubs her back trying to soothe her down. Abbi pulls away from Rick. "I am sorry. I-I didn't mean too." "It's okay. I understand you got scared." She looks at Rick with anger. "I am not scared! I just wasn't emotionally prepared!" Abbi yells towards Rick. "Hey, calm down it's okay. Do you want another try or do you just want to try again later?" Abbi nods and raises the gun back up towards the branch. "I can do this. I have to do this,it's for my protection." She thinks to herself. Slowly Abbi aims and pulls back the trigger.Suddenly BAM the sound of the bullet hitting the tree branch. "Way to go Abbi! You did it!" Rick went in to give Abbi a high five which Abbi goes for instead of denying it like she wanted too. "Can we officially start our journey now?"Abbi asks. "Yeah, let's head out." Rick leads the way with his gun in his hand ready to fire. Abbi follows curious of where they were going. They started walking down Bull street towards the bridge that would take them to Brownsville,Kentucky. Rick starts flashing back to when his family and him went on a family trip and went over this bridge. "Carl can you please stop bouncing around back there!" Rick shouts at Carl, his son,  as he is driving. "I am sorry Dad I am just really excited for this vacation!' Carl yells back with excitement in his voice. "Lori can you tell me when I have to turn next?" Rick asks his wife,Lori. "Rick just keep driving I will tellyou when to turn don't worry." Lori replies with a slight chuckle. "Now if we get lost it is all your fault!" Ricks replies while laughing. He then snaps back to reality realizing that those small family moments may never happen again if he doesn't find his family. Rick starts to walk faster and Abbi is running after him because she can't keepup. "Rick slow down!" Abbi yells at Rick but he starts walking faster. "RICK!!" Rick turns around and stops. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ABBI!?" Rick yells at Abbi. "Can you please slow down? Why did you start walking so fast in the first frickin' place?" Rick looks down at his feet. "I am sorry I had a flashback about my family and I just really need to find them A.S.A.P." "That is understandable Rick. Why don't we just take a car?" Abbi suggest while pointing to a car near them. Rick heads toward the car to see if he can get into it and start it up. He opens the door to find the keys already in the car. He turns the keys and the car starts and it also has a full tank of gas. "Abbi come on throw the stuff in the car and hop in. Hurry up." Abbi opens the back door and tosses the bags in the backseat and hops in the front seat. "Do I need a seatbelt Rick?" "Of course you do! Just cause the world has ended doesn't mean you stop being safe!" Abbi puts her seatbelt on so she could shut Rick up. Rick puts the radio on realizing that obviously the radio stations are going to be down, but he was wrong. A loud scratchy noise came on before a man started talking. "If anyone *scratchy noises* is out there *more noises* please come to Rolling Hills,Kentucky. I repeat *more noises* Rolling Hills, Kentucky." The radio looses all signal and Abbi and Rick stare at the radio with there mouths wide open. Abbi looks over at Rick and says "Should we go?" "I don't know. It could be a joke." "Come on Rick, let's try it. Maybe you're family is there." Rick shrugs his shoulders and says "I guess we can always try." "Alright Rick!" Abbi says with a smile on her face. Rick puts the car in drive and starts heading over the bridge they were heading to Rolling Hills.
