The next day it rained all day and I was trapped inside my dorm room. I was beginning to go crazy from the small space to the point where it felt like the walls were closing in on me. Johnny had decided to go to the fitness center and had yet to return. I was lying on my bed strumming the strings on my guitar lightly. I was trying to kill the time but nothing was working. After a few more melancholic strums I sat down my stringed instrument in it's case and slipped on a pair of shoes. I figured that it wouldn't hurt to make a few acquaintances, so that's what I set off to do.

I walked out of the residence building and shielded my head with the hood from my sweatshirt. I made it to the central part of the campus where I saw a mass amount of people inside. Oh God what was I thinking? I walked into the building, the powerful central air smacking me right in the face as soon as the door opened. I stumbled back a bit and pulled my hood off of my head. I looked over to my right and saw a cafe, and coffee didn't sound bad.

"What will it be?" the young, bubbly girl behind the counter smiled.

"Plain black...a small, please," I said to her before pulling a few dollars out of my wallet. I handed her the money and she handed back the extra change. While I waited for my order to be filled I looked around at my fellow peers. A lot of them were in large groups, talking and carrying on. I took a deep breath and looked over just as the girl was walking back with my coffee. "Thanks," I nodded.

"Have a nice day," she smiled. I walked away and looked around trying to decide if I wanted to find a group, or just walk back to my dorm. But then I spotted a familiar face and he spotted me. Johnny.

"Hey, Levi! Hey!" his yell was so obnoxious and I groaned before pinching the bridge of my nose with my thumb and index finger. He waved me over and I walked over to him and the group of people he had apparently made friends with. "Hey, you made it out of the dorm! Everyone, this is Levi. Levi, this is everyone," he introduced me to the group of people. "Have a seat, man," he pointed to the empty seat next to him, and I slowly sat down. "So what's up, man?"

"Not much," I sighed. I didn't really participate in the conversation Johnny and his new friends were having. They were talking about robots and oblivion...I think. The truth of the matter was I really wasn't paying attention to what they were saying because I really didn't care. But then I saw her, and my heart stopped and I couldn't find my breath. She was sitting in one of the cushioned chairs in the corner with her attention focused solely on a book in front of her. She must have felt someone staring because she looked up and I was too dumb to look away. Even from across the crowded room our eyes locked and I couldn't find it within myself to look away. She smiled at me and returned her attention back to the book. I wanted to get closer to her, and I saw that there was an empty seat next to her. I didn't want to be strange and go sit next to her, but I was so intrigued by her. I wanted to sit next to her and study her the way she did the statue the first time I laid my eyes on her.

"Hey, we're going to go play videogames in Kirby's dorm. Do you want to tag along?" Johnny asked causing me to snap out of my thoughts.

"Huh?" I replied subconciously.

"Video games in Kirby's room. You in?"

"Oh, I'll probably just stick around here for a little while," I replied. Johnny nodded, and he and his new group of friends stood up and walked out. I was alone now, and I wasn't sure what to do. I looked up and saw that her eyes rested just above her book and they were focused on me. I stared right back and felt my stomach churning, and my throat felt like it was closing more and more each second. I took a nervous sip of my coffee and my face wrinkled up a little bit from the bitter taste and I saw her eyes crinkle at the sides. Was she laughing at me? I chuckled a little bit feeling a tad embarrassed and her eyes closed for a second and she went back to her book.
