"Well, that is certainly an interesting read!", remarked Chester, his eyes glued to the screen of his laptop, while occasionally glancing at a map he held in his lap. "Are you sure that you want to do this? I asked my two friends with a worried expression. Chester snapped his head to look at me with a cheeky smirk and said, "Of course, it would be fun to see what's inside there! It's an opportunity too good to miss, Brendan!". Benjamin looked up casually, sighed, and said, "Bren, if you want to go, I am up for it too."

And so began the usual process we would go through to prepare for our adventure. Chester started gathering all of our exploration gear, including our GoPro cameras, flashlights, and all sorts of other gizmos we would need. Meanwhile, Benjamin and I would set about booking a place to stay that was nearest to our destination. We agreed that a taxi to the area would probably be too expensive due to the distance. So, instead, we decided to rent a van that we would use for the 5 days we would be traveling. When we went to pick up our van from the rental agency, we had a small discussion with the customer service agent about what we would be using the van for. When we told him where we would be going, the agent paused for a short moment, before final saying, "Oh, so you lot are going to that area. You might want to be careful, there's an abandoned house somewhere there, and there might be some paranormal activity going around. I've been in that neighborhood myself, people warned me to keep away, claiming that place had a bad aura to it. Of course, I never believed in all that rubbish, but if you want to see for yourselves, by all means, go ahead. Just be careful about what you three get up to."

Something about the way he said that sentence struck a chord in me, even if his tone made him sound nonchalant. It made me feel a sudden sense of worry about this trip. Even as we all piled into the van and began the 4-hour long drive, I had a lingering feeling in the pit of my stomach that things were going to be very different this time around. I don't know how to explain it, I just knew that this time was going to be very different.
