Recap from last Chapter:

Seen?” Carlisle asked. “We’re gifted as well,” Jasper began. “How so?” Carlisle asked, curiously. “I can see the future and Jasper can feel emotions, and effect them,” I said. It was quiet for a few moments before I continued. “One of the first things I saw after my transformation was that Jasper and I would meet you, and that we would be part of your family.” “We would be honored to have the two of you join our family,” Esme said as she came to hug us both.

Then I got way ahead of myself and asked them “So which room is ours?” Esme looked a bit shocked by my excitement but answered “Whichever one you want,” and came to hug us again. As I hugged back I began to relax and mouthed Jasper a “Thank you.”

Esme offered to show us around and we happily agreed and followed her. As we walked through the door that Rosalie, Emmett and Edward had come from, my suspicion was confirmed. It was a living room. Next we followed Esme down a hallway leading to a kitchen and dining room. The rooms were brilliantly decorated. Esme proudly stated that she did the decorating when I complimented it. She then showed us the library and Carlisle’s office.

Then Esme showed us up the stairs. There were five bedrooms upstairs. One was Esme and Carlisle’s, one was Emmett and Rosalie’s, and one was Edward’s. His had the best view and the largest closet. When he heard my thoughts about the closet, he offered Jasper and I his room and he took one of the extra rooms

Emmett, Edward, Carlisle and Jasper all helped unload my car while I showed Rosalie and Esme some of my clothes. Rosalie asked if I would make designs for her and I agreed immediately. Then Esme, Rosalie and I went shopping for furniture for Jasper’s and my room. We ended up in a clothing store, trying on dresses shortly after finishing our furniture shopping, which, of course, wasn't any surprise to me.

We came home with furniture for our room plus tons of new clothes. I was so happy that we had finally found our new family and that they were so accepting of us. I had been worried for nothing. They didn’t think that our gifts were strange; they thought that they were wonderful and unique. I loved having a permanent home, and a family. Not that I didn’t love being alone with Jasper, don’t get me wrong, I did. But now we had a family. Esme and Carlisle would be our parents. Rosalie, Emmett and Edward would be our siblings.

Jasper and I were up in our new room. I loved it. The walls were beautiful lavender. There was a large window on the wall opposite the bed that looked out at the woods and the Vermont Mountains. It was beautiful. The closet wasn't as large as I had hoped for, but I guess it would do. It was already overflowing with clothes, and so was the dresser. We sat there in silence for a while, just enjoying each other’s company and admiring our new room.

All too soon, we had to leave our room, for Esme and Carlisle were calling a family meeting.  We walked downstairs and sat down in the living room on the couch. We were just waiting on Emmett and Rosalie who, as if on que, entered. Carlisle was the first to speak, “We were thinking that it might be a good idea if you were all to go to school while we’re staying here. Emmett, Rosalie and Edward did when we were in Alaska and when we were in Forks. Jasper and Alice, do you think you’ll be able to handle that?” I glanced up at Jasper. He looked worried. “Jazz, you can do it, I know you can. But you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” I said. “I do want to, I’m just not sure if I can. You’re probably right Alice, maybe I can do it,” he said. “Probably? Maybe?” I asked teasingly. “Fine, you’re right. I’ll do it,” he said and I grinned.

“So it’s settled, the five of you will be attending high school in a month when it starts, and I will be working in the hospital in town,” Carlisle said. And with that, our ‘family meeting’ was over. We went back upstairs where I freaked out about what we were going to wear. Rosalie and I decided to go shopping again for ‘back to school’ clothes.

When we had finally decided that we had gotten enough clothes for the three guys, and us we headed home. I was so excited to go to school. I was a little worried about whether Jasper would be able to control himself around that many humans. It would be a lot to handle, especially since he hadn’t been a ‘vegetarian’ for that long and he had struggled with it in the past. But I was almost certain he could do it, and my visions had seemed to draw the same conclusion 97% of the time, but the other 3% worried me. What if he really couldn’t do it? No. I wouldn’t allow myself to think like that. Jasper will know if I’m worried, I have to keep my composure. He can do this. We can do this.
