Chapter 4

“Get up." I hear a female voice say.

This snaps me to my senses. I’m on my hands and knees on some sand. ‘Maybe a training area.' I thought but then got kicked in my stomach from the side. I was sent rolling in the sand away from the women. I stopped, laying on my left side. It hurt less than you would expect from that force.

“Come on, if I was a rival, I wouldn’t hesitate to end you now. So I’ll say it again, get up." she says and approaches me. I saw this spear in front of me, so I grabbed it.

I sense something metal approaching, something sharp, something long. ‘A sword!’ I internally scream. Without thinking I reach for the spear, grab it, roll over so I’m on my back, and hold it out in front of me just in time to block the sword the woman helt.

The force pushes my spear to my chest even though I push with all my might. I see this woman standing over me with a smile, she appeared to not want to kill me at least.

I push up with all my might and manage to force her out off the strike as she stumbles back. “Now you’re trying.” she said with a smile. I jumped up, landed on my feet and pointed my spear at this woman.

I somehow fought this woman until I managed to force her to drop her sword and yield. “You are getting better, Athena, maybe even good enough to take on a siren.” jokes the lady as she kneeled.

I offered my hand to her and she accepted it so I pulled her back up to her feet. “Thanks Mikasa, you're not too bad yourself” I laughed. 

“Are you sure you have to leave today, because the new flagship is taking over tomorrow and your presence would be appreciated in helping her find her bearings.” says Miskasa with an exhale. 

I sighted too. 

“I would love to, but sadly I have been recalled back home to do a debate on ship girls' humanity, and if they qualify to have right's.” I say. “But I will return after to meet the new flagship, I assure you. Well if I am allowed to return, that is?” I said with a chuckle.

“You're always welcome, Athena. We won’t care what the admiralty says, we will let you in without batting an eye.” replied Miskasa and hugged me.

I open my eyes and see that I'm just about to walk off of the plank and catch up to the commander. 

I slowly walk towards the main building on the base, that's presumably where all the offices and administration teams are kept. 

Hang on, what is an administration team?

“Speak what's on your mind, ship girl,” the commander says in a cold tone. 

I opened my mouth to speak and ask what I did to piss him off already but then two little girls came running around a building and stopped me in my act. One ran past me and, wait, did that one wear a maid uniform?

The other girl, in a very cute small sailor’s uniform, didn’t react as fast and knocked me over. 

We were both sent rolling around for a little bit and by the time I stopped moving the little girl was sitting on my stomach.

“S-sorry m-miss I didn’t see you there. Please don’t punish me.” she says and her eyes started to well up.

My motherly instinct kicked in, even if I didn’t know where they came from. I lifted one hand and brushed her cheek gently. She pushes her head further into my hand. 

“I will not punish you little one, not now or ever.” As I say ‘ever’, I pulled my hand away. She leans down and gives me a big hug. I wholeheartedly returned that one.
