Chasing the Chaser (Kate The Chaser × Y/N)

Part 2: Chased into danger

Head blank, breath heavy, body tired, you've been running for for twenty minutes and you're already on the verge of collapse (kinda pathetic tbh).

You began slowing down as you run past the endless forest, surrounded by the night with only the flashlight of your phone to protect you from being engulfed by the darkness. You eventually stop, leaning onto one of the trees as you pant. You have been running for a while.

"maybe I'm safe? Safe from what though? It was fast, and I panicked, I didn't see what exactly it was, maybe it was my imagination? But then what was that jumped on my car? O-Or made that scratch?!"

You quickly regain your train of thought, as much as it is okay to question, you need to focus on the current situation; where you are.

Clearly, by looking around with your phone flashlight, you are in the middle of nowhere and you are lost. Maybe running blankly into uncharted woods in the dark wasn't such a good idea, huh? Classic horror game cliche.

Luck would have it, the stars of the early morning night lit up the sky enough for you to see past the treeline and allow you to see the silhouette of a mountain, as well as a power line tower.

"Best bet right now is to get to and follow the power line, maybe I'll find a nearby town or powerplant.."

Getting back up on your feet, you starting heading into the direction of the mountain in hopes to get out of the mess you're now in.

Thirty minutes more or less have passed, the silhouette of the mountain is getting bigger, the power line getting closer, then you'll just have to follow it to the nearest place you can go. The cold air isn't helping though, you left your jacket in the care when you ran, so you've been rubbing your arms and breathing onto your hands to keep warm. You check your phone once more, still no signal, but a full battery none the less, you'll be able to use your flashlight for a while.

You're getting a little tired, but you'll make it. You continued walking before you started slowing down. You could hear something, something in the wind, like a presence. You stopped and looked around you, using your flashlight.

Searching all around you, your light began to dim a bit, flickering on and off. You looked at your screen as it began to static and glitch. You tapped onto it a bunch but nothing seems to work. The phone began to screech white noise, almost deafening before completely shutting off, but the noise didn't stop.

Less worried about your phone, you look around you again, searching for a source of the white noise as it got louder and louder. And just as you saw it, what seemed to be a moving tree walking towards you, you started running again away from it. You continued to run towards the mountain, the tree like creature behind you screaming white noise at you.

While running, you come across the side of a path going left and right. With the noise growing louder, you didn't think and turned left onto the path, running down it as fast as you can.

Your breath running short, you push yourself to run as fast as possible, and with that the noise grew quieter and quieter, indicating the creature getting further and further away. You ran on until you started passing by some signs, you didn't have time to read them, but one of them was a warning sign.

You carried on running for a little while longer, the path now running up a hill until you eventually come across a metal fence. You take the opportunity to stop and rest against the gate, panting heavy. Your phone in your hand switch back on automatically, flashlight and everything. You examine the phone a bit before lifting your head to look up and find yourself at the entrance of a large stone building. You look at the gate to see another sign on it.

"Powerplant: Abandoned"

"An abandoned powerplant, must be what the power lines are connected to.."

Technically it's what you've been looking for, and considering what just happened, you'd rather take your chances in the building then out there being chased by whatever the fuck is out there.

Catching your final breath, you start heading into the building.
